The chart below consists of the top 20 albums of the year based on first-week album equivalent units. Taylor Swift's 'folklore' again reigned strong with 846,000 units sold in its first week of availability, with 615,000 coming from pure album sales. Its 218,000 SEA units trailed only Juice Wrld's 'Legends Never Die' (283,000) and Lil Uzi Vert's 'Eternal Atake' (278,000). BTS's 'Map of the Soul 7' saw the second-biggest number of debut week pure album sales (347,000), and The Weeknd's 'After Hours' took the third spot with 275,000. Halsey's 'Manic' had the most first-week units for a non-number one album as 'Manic' debuted to 239,000 in the same week as Eminem's 'Music to be Murdered by' which scored 279,000. Logic's 'No Pressure' (221,000) also peaked at number 2 as it debuted behind 'Folklore'. Outside of the top 20, Selena Gomez's 'Rare' began with 112,000 units in January and Miley Cyrus's 'Plastic Hearts' started with 60,000 in December.
