"Stand Up to Cancer" Nets 2.8 Million Viewers in 2021

"Stand Up to Cancer" is a yearly fundraising special that airs across a number of TV networks including the Big 4 broadcast nets and a litany of cable networks. On the four broadcast networks the program logged a combined 0.39 adults 18-49 rating with 2.496 million viewers on Saturday August 21st, and on cable it nabbed an additional 135,000 adults 18-49 (0.10 rating) and 350,000 viewers. Among all rated networks, it scored a 0.49 rating with just about 2.85 million viewers.

Black Monday (Showtime): Ratings Recap

Showtime's 'Black Monday' premiered January 20, 2019 to a relatively low 0.08 adults 18-49 rating with 327,000 viewers, hit a series-high 0.11/334K in its second week, and then remained around that 0.08 figure & ~290,000 viewers for the remainder of its first season. A second season premiered nearly a year later in March 2020, but the numbers plummeted: bowing to just a 0.02 rating & 81,000 viewers and only reaching as high as 0.03 & 156,000 over its 10 episodes. A third season aired in the summer of 2021 and remained at that level, averaging just a 0.02 rating with ~100,000 viewers. There is no word yet on a fourth season.

The End (Showtime): Ratings Recap

Showtime's 'The End' premiered July 18, 2021 to a dismal 0.01 adults 18-49 rating and 61,000 viewers and really never was able to find an audience. It hovered just over 40K viewers throughout its run and concluded to series-low numbers (29K & 30K viewers). There is no word yet on whether it will be renewed for a second season.

The Chi (Showtime): Ratings Recap

Showtime's 'The Chi' premiered January 7, 2018 to a decent 0.19 adults 18-49 rating with 533,000 viewers and saw impressive growth throughout its first season, rising in each of its next three episodes, and concluding to a 0.32 rating with 872,000 viewers. The ratings for this season were certainly helped by its strong 'Shameless' lead-in which it did not have for the following seasons. The second season aired in spring 2019 where it averaged a 0.13 rating with 398,000 viewers, and a third season aired in summer 2020 where it averaged a near-identical 0.13 rating & 399,000 viewers. A fourth season aired in summer 2021, but was unable to sustain those numbers, falling to just 0.08 in the demo & 278,000 viewers for its run. Nevertheless, it was renewed for a fifth season to air in 2022.

Little Birds, Death and Nightingales, & Men in Kilts (Starz): Ratings Recaps

Below are the Nielsen ratings for three of Starz's miniseries' that aired in the first half of 2021. 'Men in Kilts' premiered February 14, 2021 to an OK (for Starz) 0.03 adults 18-49 rating with 322,000 viewers, but was completely unable to maintain that number, falling to 137,000 in its second week, and to a 0.01 with 105,000 viewers by its conclusion. There is no word yet on whether or not it will receive a second season. 'Little Birds' premiered June 6th and averaged a 0.01 rating & 55,000 viewers over 6 episodes, and 'Death and Nightingales' premiered May 16th and averaged a zero rating & 59,000 viewers over 3 episodes. 

The Luminaries, The Gloaming, & Confronting a Serial Killer (Starz): Ratings Recaps

Below are the Nielsen ratings for three of Starz's miniseries' that aired in the winter and spring of 2021. 'The Luminaries' premiered February 14, 2021 to a minuscule 0.01 adults 18-49 rating with 154,000 viewers, but still managed to tumble to a dead zero in the demo and 63,000 viewers by the conclusion of its 6 episodes. 'The Gloaming' didn't perform much better: debuting to a 0.02 rating & 137,000 viewers, but remaining well below 100K viewers for the rest of its 8 episode run, and averaging just 75,000 & a 0.01. Finally, 'Confronting a Serial Killer' aired its 5 episodes in April & May where it averaged 0.01 & 59,000.

Top Streaming (SVOD) Ratings: Week Ending June 27, 2021

Netflix's 'Manifest' again dominated the streaming ratings, logging over 2.06 billion minutes of watch-time in the week ending June 27th. 'Manifest' aside, movies ran supreme this week, taking 3 of the top 5 spots on the chart. Disney+'s 'Luca' led with 1.71 billion, followed by Netflix's 'Fatherhood' (885 million) and 'The Ice Road' (714 million) ranking third and fourth on the week. 'Loki' from Disney+ was the lone original program to make the top 5 with 713 million minutes of watch-time while Netflix's 'Lucifer' (603 million) and Amazon's 'Bosch' (423 million) also performed well.
