More Twitter ratings since I'm behind! THE VOICE finished with 155,000 total tweets composed by 61,000 people, and GAME OF THRONES stayed in 4th place for the second week in a row, with 137,000 tweets & 58,000 authors. The ROOTS miniseries began with a solid 96,000 tweets on Memorial Day and had was strong with 30,000 authors. THE NATIONAL SPELLING BEE surprisingly did very well; it brought in 140,000 tweets (94,000 authors) which was good enough for third among the week. On a slow Sunday, VEEP was able to make the list for the first time ever, though it only had 3,000 tweets & 2,000 authors.

In the week ending May 23, the BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS dominated with 1.77 million tweets, and 495,000 authors. This was easily on top of THE VOICE's 1.1 million tweets/201,000 authors and EMPIRE finale's 402,000 tweets & 101,000 authors. THE BACHELORETTE began its eleventh season with 326,000 tweets and 139,000 authors which put GAME OF THRONES into 4th place with 307,000 tweets & 136,000 authors. Finally, the series finale of BANSHEE, on Cinemax, had about 12,000 tweet with 5,000 authors.

Today was my last day of High School, so to celebrate, I'm going to provide some Twitter ratings.

THE VOICE led the week in both authors (107,000) and total tweets (582,000), and EMPIRE's second-place finish really wasn't even close with 77,000 authors and 298,000 tweets. GAME OF THRONES was third in total tweets (200,000), but managed to pull ahead of EMPIRE with authors (84,000). EMPIRE had a very high 3.9 tweets per person though, compared to THRONES's 2.4. The season finale of WGN America's UNDERGROUND raked in 51,000 tweets and 8,000 authors, while Starz's old-skewing OUTLANDER could only manage 19,000 tweets & 3,000 authors.

Select Ratings from Original Wednesday Cable telecasts from March 30 - May 11, 2016:

Here's a recap of the ratings of Wednesday shows in April. MTV's CATFISH ranged between 661,000 viewers to 1.014 million viewers from March 24 - May 11, 2016. On Comedy Central, BROAD CITY concluded its third season with 626,000 viewers on 4/20, down from both the season premiere (772K) and season 2 finale (672K). UNDERGROUND, on WGN America, concluded its inaugural season on 5/11, with 1.012 million viewers - it's highest numbers since the series premiere back in March (1.421M). Over the course of 7 episodes FX's THE AMERICANS had a high of 1.04 million viewers on 4/6, and a low of 820,000 on 3/30; it had 895,000 for its most recent episode. On Freeform, the season 3 finale of YOUNG & HUNGRY notched 538,000 viewers (down from 648K for the season premiere), and the mid-season 5 finale had 592,000 viewers (down from 620K for the season premiere). On TV Land, the season 5 premiere of THE SOUL MAN brought in 445,000 viewers, down from the 606K for the season 4 premiere, but up from the 399K/335K for last season's finale. Also on TV Land was the series premiere of LOPEZ which found 646,000 viewers (and 674K on Nick-at-Night). On Pop, SCHITT'S CREEK averaged between 183,000 & 252,000 viewers, and on El Rey, LUCHA UNDERGROUND averaged between 42,000 & 156,000 over the course of 14 episodes. Sundance's HAP AND LEONARD concluded its inaugural season with a series-low 192,000 viewers (down from 429K for the series premiere); THE LAST PANTHERS premiered to 78,000 on April 13th. Among lower-rated cables, the series premiere of MICRO MONSTERS WITH DAVID ATTENBOROUGH (Smithsonian) had 71,000 on 5/4, and the 2 premiere episodes of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ART had 33,000 and 15,000.

Select Ratings from Original Tuesday Cable telecasts from March 29 - May 10, 2016:

Here's a recap of the ratings of Tuesday shows in April. AMERICAN CRIME STORY concluded its inaugural season on April 5 to the tune of 3.28 million viewers; down from the 5.12M who saw the series premiere; however, the highest mark since the February 16th installment. Lifetime's DANCE MOMS remained steady throughout its April run, with a peak of 1.66M viewers on April 12 - it's highest mark since April 21, 2015. On Freeform, SHADOWHUNTERS concluded it's first season with a series-low 762,000 viewers (down from 1.82M for the series premiere), and STITCHERS rose from it's second season premiere to 459,000, but was sub-400K for the remainder of the season. OUTSIDERS, on WGN America, finished its first season with 956,000 viewers, its highest mark since the series premiere (1.06M). AMC's miniseries THE NIGHT MANAGER premiered to 933,000 viewers on April 19, and steadily fell week-to-week to 812,000, 806,000, and 725,000. The series premiere of OUTDAUGHTERED, on TLC, collected 1.25M viewers - losing only 267K from it's lead-in LITTLE PEOPLE, BIG WORLD. OUTDAUGHTERED pulled it's highest rating in the P50+ demographic (0.75), and in Females 18-49 it had a 0.43 vs. 0.15 for Males. The second week of FRIDAY NIGHT TYKES: STEEL CITY (Esquire) saw 58,000 for the first episode, and 76,000 for the second (down from 137K for the series premiere). The premiere of BOUNDLESS on April 12 had a mere 31,000 viewers, but rose to 69,000 the second week. One rating of particular note is the final broadcast from Aljazeera network - FAULT LINES - which had 13,000 viewers.

Among scripted series, EMPIRE led the week with 199,000 tweets, but was edged out by GAME OF THRONES in unique authors (44,000 vs. 70,000); THRONES was second in total tweets (154,000). GREY'S ANATOMY again beat SCANDAL this week in total tweets (74,000 to 65,000), and had almost twice as many authors (33,000 to 18,000). The season finale of BLUE BLOODS generated 12,000 tweets written by 2,000 authors, and the penultimate episode of UNDERGROUND had 26,000 tweets and 4,000 authors. For some reason, THE GOOD WIFE series finale didn't make the list this week, but by the end of the broadcast, #TheGoodWife had 10.4K tweets and #GoodWifeFarewell had 7,724, for a total of about 18,000.

SELECT MONDAY CABLE RATINGS FROM MARCH 28 - MAY 9, 2016

Select Ratings from Original Thursday Cable telecasts from March 28 - May 9, 2016:

The month long hiatus has concluded! Just an FYI, I will cover the ratings for all shows up until May 25, 2016. After that, I will be taking the 2016-17 TV season off, and will resume at the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

Here's a recap of the ratings of Monday shows in April. BETTER CALL SAUL concluded its second season with 2.26 million viewers which was down from 2.53M from the season 1 finale. It was; however, better than the 1.5 million viewers BREAKING BAD pulled in its second season finale back in 2009. TURN began its third season with a series-low 471,000 viewers, and managed to rise to 580,000 2-episodes later, but it was still lower than any episode in seasons 1 and 2. A&E's BATES MOTEL stayed steady over the course of its fourth season, never falling below 1.3 million viewers, but did hit a series-low 1.33M for the April 18th installment. On Syfy, THE MAGICIANS finished its inaugural season with 676,000 viewers, down from the 1.113 million who saw the series premiere in January, and its third lowest rated episode of the season.  HUNTERS began with a drastically low 537,000 viewers, stayed below that  number throughout its run so far. Also on Syfy, 12 MONKEYS returned from a year-long hiatus, but forgot to bring its viewers with it; dropping to a series-low 476,000 for its season premiere, and has fell even lower for the following episodes. Logo's RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE concluded its eighth season with 358,000 viewers, its highest since March, and GAY FOR PLAY began with 183,000 and 137,000 for its two premiere episodes. THE DETOUR, on TBS, began with solid 1.17M and 1.04M episodes and has stayed above 750K for its entire run so far. Also on TBS, FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE has averaged over 600,000 viewers for the past 4 episodes, on par with its season average. Finally, HBO's AFTER THE THRONES began with 165,000 viewers, a minuscule number in itself, but made even worse when compared to the 8 million viewers that GoT had the night prior.

SELECT SUNDAY CABLE TV RATINGS FROM MARCH 27 - MAY 8, 2016

Here's a recap of the ratings of Sunday shows in April. AMC's THE WALKING DEAD concluded its sixth season with a massive 14.19 million viewers, its second most viewed episode of the season (after the premiere's 14.63M), but its lowest finale rating since season 3 (12.42M). FEAR THE WALKING DEAD began its second season with 6.67 million viewers, much lower than series premiere which brought in 10.13M, but only slightly lower than the season one finale (6.86M). The show has settled at around the 4.5M mark. On Showtime, SHAMELESS concluded its sixth season with 1.63 million viewers, up from the season premiere (1.44M) and from the season five finale (1.55M); BILLIONS finished its first season with a solid 1.01 million viewers, higher than the series premiere (904K), and only slightly lower than the season average (1.053M). After a 13-month hiatus, HOUSE OF LIES began its fifth season with a series low 399,000 viewers, down from the season 4 premiere (723K) and finale (503K), it rose to 418,000 in week 2, but fell down to a dismal 258,000 by week 5. DICE premiered to a low 254,000 viewers, and fell to 155,000 by week 5; PENNY DREADFUL began its third season with 540,000 viewers, slightly lower than last year's premiere (575K), but not a series low; and it rose to 554,000 in its second week. HBO's GAME OF THRONES premiered to 7.94 million viewers (down slightly from last year's 8 million), lead-out SILICON VALLEY started with 1.86M (down from last year's 2.13M), and VEEP began with 1.1M (a rise from last year's 1.05M). The series finale of TOGETHERNESS found 398,000 viewers (up from 326K last year), it's highest rated episode since the season premiere (430K), and fifth highest viewed episode ever. VINYL ended with 730,000, while GIRLS concluded to 582,000 and 512,000 for its two episodes. Finally, THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE, on Starz, premiered to 363,000 and 334,00 for its two premiere episodes, but dropped to 163,000 by its fifth episode. It is still performing better than Starz's most recent Sunday show, FLESH AND BONE, which was at 122K by its fifth episode, and eventually concluded with 93,000.

Racial Ratings: Top TV Shows for the Week Ending March 6, 2016

NOTE: I only received the data for the top 10 shows based on African-American household rating. I did not get any Hispanic data.

FOX's ROSEWOOD led the week in percentage of black viewers, with almost 43% of its audience in that demographic (1.5 million). ABC's HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER led in total black viewers with 1.64 million, accounting for about 36% of its total audience. The brand new series THE FAMILY which aired in place of SCANDAL, pulled in 1.36 million African-American viewers (24%), and the long running GREY'S ANATOMY had 1.37m, or about 18% of its viewing audience. Finally, CBS's NCIS had over 1.28 million African-American viewers, but because of its huge overall audience size, it only equated to about 8%.

The 2016 NFL DRAFT easily won the week on Twitter with over 2.51 million tweets on Thursday with the first round, and 1.12 million tweets on Friday with rounds two and three. About 728,000 people tweeted on Thursday, while 384,000 joined in on Friday. GAME OF THRONES was dominant in its second week with over 153,000 unique authors contributing to a massive 338,000 tweets. EMPIRE was also strong, delivering 128,000 tweets and 31,000 authors, but THE FLASH could only muster up 29,000 tweets and 8,000 authors. Finally, on TGIT, GREY'S ANATOMY edged out SCANDAL in tweets (57,000 vs. 53,000) and in authors (31,000 vs. 16,000).

SELECT SATURDAY CABLE TV RATINGS FROM MARCH 26 - MAY 7, 2016

Here's a recap of the ratings of Saturday shows in April. OUTLANDER, on Starz, premiered its second season to a series-high 1.457 million viewers, more than double the rating of the series premiere in 2014 (721K), and almost 500K viewers more than the season 1 finale (981K). The previous high was 1.417 million for the season 1 fall finale. BLACK SAILS concluded its third season with 644,000 viewers, the lowest finale rating yet (vs. 762K and 668K), and 200K lower than the season premiere (843K); though it has been renewed for a fourth season to air in 2017. Esquire's BEOWULF closed its inaugural season with 157,000 viewers, down from the season premiere (267K), but way up from Esquire's other original series SPOTLESS which concluded to only 54,000.   THE ARTFUL DETECTIVE, on Ovation, stayed solid in viewership ranging between 122,000 and 215,000 over the course of 7 episodes, but was at a 0.01 in the 18-49's for every episode except for the May 7th installment (0.02). MISS FISHER'S MURDER MYSTERIES premiered to 174,000 viewers on April 2 and has stayed relatively steady over the course of 6 episodes. Centric's BEING finished its second season with 103,000 viewers, although it is on par with the season ratings as a whole, it is down slightly from the season premiere (117K), and season one finale (169K). The season high was a fluke (?) 203,000 viewers for the March 12 episode, and the season low was 93,000 on April 2; it averaged 118,000 over 8 episodes. CURVY STYLE WITH TIMOTHY SNELL premiered to 92,000 on April 30, and fell to 59,000 in week 2. HBO's CONFIRMATION pulled in 936,000 viewers on April 16, and LEMONADE, which aired the week after, had 787,000.

Beyonce's LEMONADE ruled the week on Twitter with 696,000 tweets and 204,000 unique authors. NBC's THE VOICE was close behind with 507,000 tweets and 126,000 authors, but FOX's hit EMPIRE could only manage 149,000 tweets and 35,000 authors, enough for fourth on the week. UNDERGROUND, on WGN America, had a solid 31,000 tweets written by 5,000 authors, but OUTLANDER, on Starz, could only manage 17,000 tweets and 3,000 authors. Finally, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD was much lower than its parent series, bringing in only 34,000 tweets and 12,000 authors.

Here's a recap of the ratings of Friday shows in April. HBO's VICE averaged 536,000 total viewers over the past 6 episodes, with the most recent episode delivering only 407,000. ANIMALS. concluded its inaugural season with 246,000 viewers on 4/8, up from the 239,000 who watched the season premiere. On Syfy, WYNONNA EARP began with a low 801,000 viewers on 4/1, and dropped to 548,000 by its sixth episode, on par with recent Syfy premieres. ANCIENT ALIENS, on History, began its 11th season with 1.25 million viewers, down from the season 10 finale which brought in 1.48m on 10/9/15. MOTIVE, on USA, premiered its third season to 706,000 viewers on 4/1, and stayed relatively steady for 3 more weeks, before moving to Sundays. Cinemax's BANSHEE began its short fourth season with 356,000 viewers on 4/1, its second lowest viewed episode ever (the 3/8/13 episode had 335K), and lowest premiere rating ever (vs. 483K in 2013, 491K in 2014, and 547K in 2015). The show fell to series-lows in week's 2 and 3 though (277,000 and 290,000), but bounced up to a season high 425,000 by week 6 (though still lower than any episode from season 3). Chiller's first foray into scripted programming, SLASHER, finished its 8-episode run with 86,000 viewers on 4/15, its most viewed episode since the 2 series premiere episodes from early March (120K and 110K). Finally, a Showtime special titled SPRING BROKE found 131,000 viewers on March 25.

The CNN DEMOCRATIC DEBATE easily won the week on Twitter with 920,000 tweets and 181,000 unique authors, this was 6 times more than EMPIRE which had 163,000 tweets and 38,000 unique authors. HBO's CONFIRMATION did well socially, with 59,000 tweets written by 17,000 people. The season finale of SUPERGIRL generated 29,000 tweets and 8,000 authors, while the finale of IZOMBIE generated only 20,000 tweets and 4,000 authors. Other notables include OUTLANDER which had 21,000 tweets, and the finale of GIRLS which had just 8,000.

SELECT THURSDAY CABLE TV RATINGS FROM MARCH 24, 2016 - MAY 5, 2016

Here's a recap of the ratings of Thursday shows in April. History's VIKINGS concluded the first part of its fourth season with 2.4 million viewers, exactly even with the season premiere, but down from the 2.73 million of the third season finale from 2015. AMERICARNA, on Velocity, averaged 248K viewers over the course of 5 weeks, and concluded its third season wih 226,000 viewers in 4/21, down from 351K for the season premiere. On TruTV, IMPRACTICAL JOKERS averaged 805K viewers over 7 weeks, with a high of 876,000 on 3/24, and a low of 683,000 on 4/28; the most recent episode scored 753,000. BRINGING UP BATES, on UP, finished its third season on 4/7 with 210,000 viewers, down from 351K for the season premiere; and also aired a Mother's Day special on 5/5 which brought in 199,000. ORPHAN BLACK, on BBC America, returned for its fourth season with a series-low 229,000 viewers (down from 535K for last year's premiere), it rose to 271,000 in week two, but promptly dropped back down to 242,000 and 218,000 in weeks three and four. Showtime's GIGOLOS concluded its sixth season on 5/5 with 112,000 viewers, the show averaged 130,000 viewers over its 9-episode run with a high of 200,000 on 3/31, and a low of 99,000 on 4/7.FLUFFY BREAKS EVEN, on Fuse, began its second season with 105,000 and 86,000 viewers for its two episodes and found 78,000 for its most recent episode on 5/5. Finally, BASKETS, on FX, finished its inaugural run with 564,000 viewers (down from 1.04M for the season premiere), and PORTLANDIA, on IFC, concluded its sixth season with 120,000 (down from 207K for the season premiere).

THE MTV MOVIE AWARDS led the week with 403,000 tweets and 219,000 unique authors. The finale of AMERICAN IDOL was a close second with 401,000 tweets, but was much lower with 123,000 unique authors. FEAR THE WALKING DEAD premiered its second season with 79,000 tweets (27,000 unique authors), and the second week of EMPIRE's return brought in 228,000 tweets.  The second season premiere of OUTLANDER had 30,000 tweets written by 7,000 people, and WGN America's UNDERGROUND had 27,000 tweets and 5,000 authors.

Top Cable Networks: Week Ending March 20, 2016

Fueled by THE WALKING DEAD and BETTER CALL SAUL, AMC pulled 1.67 million viewers in primetime over the course of the week, but only managed 585,000 in total day. FOX NEWS was the top overall network with 2.62 million primetime viewers and 1.41 million viewers in total day. With the new original series SLASHER, CHILLER pulled in 66,000 primetime viewers, and with THE PEOPLE VS OJ SIMPSON, FX raked in 1,07 million viewers in primetime.

The GOP TOWN HALL had a unique audience of 5.21 million people, and 724,000 total tweets. EMPIRE stayed dominant in its spring premiere with 471,000 tweets and 2.66 million unique views. IHEARTRADIO MUSIC AWARDS pulled in over 3.27 million total tweets written by 306,000 unique authors, and THE WALKING DEAD had 932,000 tweets contributed by 265,000 people. On CBS, CRIMINAL MINDS led the week with a unique audience of 1.22 million & 36,000 tweets; CARPOOL KARAOKE had 982,000 impressions and 13,000 tweets.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 23, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

ESPN's coverage of NBA BASKETBALL LA vs. GOLDEN STATE led the night on cable with 2.54 million total viewers; the NEW YORK vs. CHICAGO game was at 1.42 million. Comedy Central's BROAD CITY dropped to a series-low 569,000 viewers (down from 640K last week), and Syfy's FACE OFF ticked down to 890,000 (from 913K). THE AMERICANS, on FX, was at 933,000 for its second episode of the season (down from 1.11M), and UNDERGROUND, on WGN America, was at 895,000 (down from 989K); both were strongest in the P50+ demo, scoring 0.46 and 0.51 respectively. On Freeform, BABY DADDY fell to 436,000 viewers (from 530K), and YOUNG & HUNGRY was down to 450,000 (from 518K); in the F 12-34 demo, they were at 0.32 and 0.37. WHEELER DEALERS, on Velocity, rose to 391,000 (from 345K), PREACHERS OF ATLANTA, on Oxygen, rose to 222,000 (From 180K), but SCHITT'S CREEK, on POP, dropped slightly to 206,000 (from 238K). Among lower-rated cables, El Rey's LUCHA UNDERGROUND pulled in 163,000 viewers (from 100K), and SundanceTV's HAP AND LEONARD ticked up to 208,000 (from 197K). Finally, on Great American Country, two episodes of CELEBRITY MOTOR HOMES were at 59,000 & 51,000; down from the 2 most recent episodes on March 2, which had 72K & 60K.

The penultimate episode of the season for THE WALKING DEAD was huge on Twitter this week. There were over 346,000 tweets written by 131,000 different people. Those tweets were seen by 3.96 million unique individuals and generated over 28.09 million impressions. ABC's new Thursday Night line-up was also very big on Twitter. GREY'S ANATOMY had 69,000 tweets with over 3.91 million impressions, SCANDAL had a slightly higher number of tweets (72,000) and impressions (4.42 million), but had a lower unique audience than GREY'S (1.05m vs. 1.69m). The series premiere of THE CATCH had only 17,000 tweets and 1.88 million impressions. THE TONIGHT SHOW on March 24th (featuring ZAYN) notched 213,000 tweets, 1.32 million uniques, and 4.67 million impressions - ranked #5 on the week. On premium cable, HBO's GIRLS had 5,000 tweets (623,000 impressions), and Starz's BLACK SAILS had 7,000 tweets (231,000 impressions).

TUESDAY MARCH 22, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

Select Ratings from Original Cable telecasts on Tuesday March 22, 2016:

AMERICAN CRIME STORY, on FX, led the day in the 18-49's with a 1.19, and rose to 2.91 million viewers (from 2.88m); it's highest demo rating was a 1.35 in Adults 25-54. On Bravo, REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS rose to 1.83 million (from 1.7m), and on OWN, IF LOVING YOU IS WRONG dropped to 2.2 million (from 2.47m); both were strongest in Females 18-49 where it was at 1.04 and 0.86 respectively. Freeform's SHADOWHUNTERS aired for the first time without a LIARS lead-in and retained almost its entire audience from last week, down a mere 3,000 viewers, to 781,000, the show also stayed solid in Females 12-34 (0.57); STITCHERS, on the other hand, premiered its second season to 433,000 viewers, down from its Halloween episode in October (491K),  its season one finale back in August (805K), and from its series premiere last June (1.28m). OUTSIDERS, on WGN America, dropped to a season low in 18-49's (0.22), and dropped to 673,000 viewers (from 737K). MTV's AWKWARD rose to 576,000 viewers (from 517K) and stayed strong in F 12-34 (0.64); FAKING IT rose over 100K viewers, to 398,000. PRANCING ELITES PROJECT, on Oxygen, was down to 333,000 (from 364K), GANGSTERS, on Reelz, concluded with 177,000 viewers (up 20K viewers), and LEGENDARY MOTORCAR, on Velocity, rose about 60K viewers, to 270,000. Among lower-rated cables, HERE WE GO AGAIN, on TV One, finished its first season with 157,000 viewers (up from 89K), and the penultimate episode of BORN AGAIN VIRGIN rose 99K, to 168,000. Finally, Esquire's FRIDAY NIGHT TYKES ended with 266,000 viewers (up from 196K), and FRIDAY NIGHT TYKES: STEEL CITY began with 137,000.

MONDAY MARCH 21, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

Select Ratings from Original Cable telecasts on Monday March 21, 2016:

On AMC, BETTER CALL SAUL rose from last week's series-low to 2.105 million viewers (from 1.99m), and was strongest in the Males 18-49 demographic (1.15). It is still far ahead of BREAKING BAD which only scored 1.407 million viewers for the sixth episode of its second season.

VH1's LOVE & HIP HOP returned after a week off, and stayed strong with 2.41 million viewers and was at 1.92 in Females 18-49 and1.82 in F 12-34. Also on VH1 was STEVIE J & JOSELINE which climbed almost 900K viewers (!) to 1.87 million, K. MICHELLE: MY LIFE which rose over 700K viewers to 1.79m, and HIT THE FLOOR which rose exactly 400K viewers to 1.32m (the three shows were at 1.43, 1.39, 1.08 respectively in F 18-49). On Freeform, THE FOSTERS gained 69K viewers, to 800,000, and RECOVERY ROAD rose 50K, to 491,000 in their penultimate episodes; both were strongest in F 12-34 (0.64 0.47 respectively). Syfy's LOST GIRL had 342,000 viewers for its series finale, down almost half from its season premiere last April (654K), and down hugely from its American premiere back in January 2012 (1.474 million). Also airing on Syfy was THE MAGICIANS which rose to 778,000 (from 712K), and BITTEN which ticked up to 339,000 (from 336K). BATES MOTEL, on A&E, was up slightly to 1.46m viewers (from 1.45m) and had a strong 0.73 in F 18-49; DAMIEN, on the other hand, lost 20K viewers, down to 515,000 (almost 1/3 of its lead-in) and had a 0.47 in F 12-34. On TBS, AMERICAN DAD dropped to 958,000 viewers (from 1.01m), but had a 0.64 in M 18-49; FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE had a 0.35 in M 18-49 (& 0.23 in Females) and lost 57K viewers, to 650,000; and an ANGIE TRIBECA rerun ("Inside Man") found 536,000. Other notables include RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE, on Logo, which fell to 286,000 viewers (from 358K), FATAL ATTRACTION, on TV One, which was down to 279,000 (from 297K), and AGAINST THE ODDS, on AHC, which was even at 237,000. Finally, on Smithsonian, the season finale of MAJOR LEAGUE LEGENDS pulled 90,000 viewers (down from 113K).

SUNDAY MARCH 20, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

Select Ratings from Original Cable telecasts on Sunday March 20, 2016:

AMC's THE WALKING DEAD led the night with 12.69 million total viewers and a 6.04 in the 18-49's (up from 12.53m), and its highest demo rating was with Adults 25-54 (6.7). TALKING DEAD rose to 5.33 million (from 5.06m), and COMIC BOOK MEN was  down to 740,000 (from 796K). Leaders for the night were Bravo's REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA and REAL HOUSEWIVES OF POTOMAC which had 3.01m and 1.7m viewers respectively up from 2.52m/1.57m), and in Females 18-49, they had high ratings of 2.19 and 1.22. On Showtime, SHAMELESS had 1.68 million viewers (from 1.6m), and BILLIONS rose 40K, to 1.13m; while the former was relatively equal in Males and Females 18-49 (0.64/0.62), the latter did much better in males (0.48/0.28). E!'s I AM CAIT continued its decent, down to 722,000 viewers (from 771K), and Hallmark's WHEN CALLS THE HEART fell to 1.8m (from 2.05m); CAIT's strongest demo was F 18-49 (0.44), while HEART's was Adults 50+ (1.31). Other shows of note include Showtime's THE CIRCUS which ticked up to 222,000 (from 219K), Oxygen's SNAPPED which was down to 458,000 (from 491K), and CMT's BROKEN SKULL CHALLENGE which rose over 100K viewers to 467,000. Among lower rated cables, AIR DISASTERS, on Smithsonian, lost 4K, to 214,000, and ALASKA AIRCRASH INVESTIGATIONS lost 23K, to 141,000. Finally, RACHEL HUNTER'S TOUR OF BEAUTY, on Ovation, found 46,000 viewers, ROUGH DRAFT WITH REZA ASLAN had 16,000, and LILY COLE'S ART MATTERS scraped together a mere 2,000.

THE WALKING DEAD again dominated the week on Twitter with 4.09 million unique viewers and 443,000 tweets (and 32.12M impressions). FOX's THE PASSION fared decently with 133,000 tweets seen by 2.18M unique individuals (and 18.41M impressions). Premieres: AWKWARD. returned with 15,000 tweets and 524,000 unique viewers, THE AMERICANS began its fourth season with 6,000 tweets and 370,000 viewers, and NASHVILLE returned for the second part of its season with 27,000 tweets and 366,000 viewers. PRETTY LITTLE LIARS concluded its sixth season with 231,000 tweets and a very high 1.78 million viewers (with 8.15M impressions). GREY'S ANATOMY led among Shondaland shows with 1.19M views and 58,000 tweets, followed by the season finale of HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER (1.03M/116,000), and finally SCANDAL (990,000/79,000). Elsewhere: AMERICAN CRIME STORY stayed strong (30,000 tweets with 991,000 views), and the penultimate episode of BLACK SAILS had 5,000 tweets with 203,000 views. Finally, DANCING WITH THE STARS began with 93,000 tweets and a whopping 3.18M views.

SATURDAY MARCH 19, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

Four NCAA BASKETBALL games were on top for the day. On TBS, Providence/North Carolina led with 4.06 million viewers (with a strong 2.12 in Males 18-49), Butler/Virginia was second with 2.34 million (with a 1.06 in M 18-49), and on TNT, Gonzaga/Utah had 1.78m (with 0.80 in M 18-49), while Little Rock/Iowa State was at 1.21m (with 0.58 in M 18-49). In Females 18-49, the four games were at 0.99, 0.52, 0.41 and 0.27 respectively.

Elsewhere, SCHOOL OF ROCK was down 1.68 million viewers in its second week (from 2.38m), and pulled a 0.53 in F 12-34 (down from 0.88). The penultimate episode of BLACK SAILS, on Starz, dropped to 608,000 viewers (from 677K); its lowest penultimate episode yet (vs. 703K in 2014, and 653K in 2015). On OWN, WHERE ARE THEY NOW? rose over 100K viewers, to 456,000, and FOR PEETE'S SAKE premiered to 639,000 total viewers. KILLERPOST, on Oxygen, rose to 340,000 (from 274K), MOUNTAIN MONSTERS, on Destination America, was about even with last week at 411,000, and BEOWULF, on Esquire, was up to 203,000 (from 164K). Finally among lower-rated cables, BEING, on Centric, toppled to 115,000 (from 203K), and THE ARTFUL DETECTIVE shed 30K, to 142,000.

FRIDAY MARCH 18, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

Happy Easter! Not including NCAA Basketball, Lifetime's BRING IT! led the day in the 18-49's (0.48) and had 1.19 million viewers (down from 1.32m), and was strong in Females 18-49 (0.74); a BRING IT! SPECIAL brought in 976,000, with a 0.55 in F 18-49. On HBO, REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER rose to 1.46m viewers (from 1.4m), and ANIMALS. dropped to 60K viewers, to 187,000. BUNK'D, on Disney Channel, was down to 1.37 million (from 1.5m), and STUCK IN THE MIDDLE ticked up to 1.67m (from 1.64m); both were strongest in F 12-34 with 0.55 and 0.72 respectively. On Destination America, PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN rose to 400,000 viewers (from 354K) and on Showtime, a special (STEVE-O GUILTY AS CHARGED) brought in 165,000. Finally, SLASHER, on Chiller, was even at 67,000 viewers.

THURSDAY MARCH 17, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

The NCAA TOURNAMENT led the night with 12 different games airing on 3 different networks. The 4 TBS games averaged 1.96 million viewers (but it was brought down by one airing that had 641,000), the 4 TNT games averaged 1.54 million (lowest airing was 979,000), and 4 TruTV airings averaged 847,000 viewers.

History's VIKINGS lost 200K viewers, down to 2.13m, but Bravo's TOP CHEF actually rose to 1.17 million viewers (from 921K). VIKINGS did have a stronger male audience than CHEF with a 0.73 in M 18-49 (down from last week's 0.79) and this week's decline was most likely due to the 9:30pm TNT Wichita State/Arizona basketball game (1.52 in M 18-49). Unusually, TOP CHEF's male 18-49 audience rose this week to 0.37 (from 0.28), but its female audience did as well (0.55 vs. 0.47). COLONY, on USA, finished its first season with its highest audience since January 28th (1.21m) with 1.19 million tuning in for its season finale (up from down from last week's 1.09m); the show has been renewed for a second season. On FX, the penultimate episode of the first season of BASKETS drew 500,000 viewers (from 396K), its highest audience since February 18th (649K). MARY MARY, on WeTV, was down to 477,000 viewers (from 520K), and on CMT, PARTY DOWN SOUTH dropped to 455,000 (from 528K), and REDNECK ISLAND fell to 377,000 (from 418K). Among lower rated cables, PORTLANDIA, on IFC, was at 131,000 for its penultimate episode of the season (from 127K), AMERICARNA, on Velocity, was up to 238,000 (from 178K), and BRINGING UP BATES, on UP, dropped to 208,000 (from 252K). Finally, on Showtime, GIGOLOS began its sixth season with 105,000 viewers.

Live +7 Cable Ratings: Top 100 Shows on DVR in 2015

Below are the top 100 cable shows in 2015 based on DVR ratings. THE WALKING DEAD, on AMC, led the year with an average of 19.49 million Live+7 viewers over the course of its 16 episodes and had a 10.1 18-49 rating, while FEAR THE WALKING DEAD was in second place with 6.1/11.84 million. Also on AMC, BETTER CALL SAUL was at 3.2/6.51m, INTO THE BADLANDS rose to 2.7/5.59m, and the final season of MAD MEN pulled a 1.3/3.65m for its 7 episodes. On HBO, GAME OF THRONES averaged 9.51 million viewers and a 4.9 18-49 rating in Live+7, TRUE DETECTIVE rose to 1.8/4.03m, BALLERS had 1.5/2.79m, and SILICON VALLEY averaged 1.4/2.43m in Live+7.

Other shows in the top 100 include: ABC Family's PRETTY LITTLE LIARS (1.4/2.94m), Starz's POWER (1.0/2.18m), and FXX's IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA (0.8/1.22m). USA's SUITS had a 1.2 18-49 rating, and 3.7m DVR viewers, while the critically acclaimed MR. ROBOT averaged a 1.1 and 2.74 million L+7 viewers. On Showtime, SHAMELESS averaged a 1.1 in the 18-49s and 2.45 million viewers, while HOMELAND averaged a 0.9 and 2.65m. Many FX shows made the top 100: led by AMERICAN HORROR STORY (3.4/6.38m), followed by THE STRAIN (1.2/2.73m), the final season of JUSTIFIED (1.2/3.78m), critical darling FARGO (1.0/3.08m), and the short-lived BASTARD EXECUTIONER (0.9/2.54m). Finally, TBS's GROUND FLOOR occupied its namesake with a 0.8 and 1.81 million.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 16, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

Not including TruTV's NCAA Basketball (2,162,000), HGTV's PROPERTY BROTHERS led the day in the 18-49's (0.56) and had 2.16 million viewers. LITTLE WOMAN LA, on Lifetime, was down to 1.36m viewers (from 1.42m) with a healthy 0.86 in Females 18-49, but LITTLE WOMAN ATL rose to 1.29m (from 1.16m) with a 0.80 in F 18-49. On FX, THE AMERICANS began its fourth season with 1.11m viewers, its lowest premiere number yet, and down from the third season premiere (1.9m), and finale (1.22m); AMERICANS also pulled a very high 0.66 in Adults 50+. YOUNG & HUNGRY, on Freeform, ticked down to 518,000 viewers (from 529K), and BABY DADDY fell to 530,000 (from 573K); they were at 0.35 and 0.40 respectively in F 12-34. WGN America's UNDERGROUND dropped to 989,000 viewers in its second week (from 1.421m), and to a 0.30 Adults 25-54 rating (from 0.49). On TV Land, the penultimate episode of the second season of YOUNGER rose to 654,000 viewers (from 616K), and the season finale of TEACHERS rose slightly to 344,000 (from 340K). Pop's SCHITT'S CREEK began its second season with 238,000 viewers and a 0.06 18-49 rating, down in viewers from the series premiere in 2015 (275K), but up in the demo (from 0.04). Among lower rated cables, HAP AND LEONARD, on SundanceTV, fell to 197,000 (from 271K), PREACHERS OF ATLANTA, on Oxygen, was down 25K, to 180,000, and LUCHA UNDERGROUND, on El Rey, rose 5,000, to 100,000.

TUESDAY MARCH 15, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

FX's AMERICAN CRIME STORY led the day with a 1.17 18-49 rating, a high 1.33 Adults 25-54 rating, and 2.88 million viewers (from 3 million). On OWN, THE HAVES AND HAVE NOTS concluded its second season with 2.85m viewers (from 2.64m), and IF LOVING YOU IS WRONG returned for the second part of its second season with 2.47m (from 2.51m on 12/1/15). In Females 18-49, they were at 1.07 and 1.04 respectively. OUTSIDERS, on WGN America, rose to 737,000 viewers (from 669K), and pulled at 0.31 in the 25-54 key demo. On Freeform, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS concluded its sixth season with 1.19 million viewers (down from 1.26m last week, and from 2.38m of the season premiere last June), and SHADOWHUNTERS fell over 200K viewers, to 784,000 (from 952K); in Females 12-34, they were at 1.32 and 0.61 respectively. BAD GIRLS CLUB, on Oxygen, began its 15th season with 575,000 viewers (from 249K for last week's special), and PRANCING ELITES PROJECT doubled to 364,000 (from 183K). DANCE MOMS, on Lifetime, ticked up to 1.26m (from 1.21m) and had a 0.74 in F 12-34, while THE MOTHER/DAUGHTER EXPERIMENT dropped 100K, to 410,000. AWKWARD, on MTV, began the second half of its fifth season with 517,000 viewers (from 779K/737K on 11/9/15), and FAKING IT began its third season with a series-low 284,000 (from 515K on 11/2/15). Among lower rated cables, FRIDAY NIGHT TYKES, on Esquire, was down to 196,000 (from 258K), GANGSTERS, on Reelz, dropped to 157,000 (from 213K), and LEGENDARY MOTORCAR, on Velocity, fell to 211,000 in its second week (from 302K/281K). Finally, on TV One, HERE WE GO AGAIN was at 89,000, and BORN AGAIN VIRGIN was at 69,000 (from 122K/150K).

AMC's BETTER CALL SAUL dropped to a series low in total viewers: 1.992 million viewers (down from 2.199m), and a 1.17 Males 18-49 rating (down from 1.21). For comparison, the fifth episode of the second season of BREAKING BAD only had 1.213 million viewers.

Without the help of LOVE & HIP HOP, VH1's K. MICHELLE: MY LIFE fell to 1.06 million viewers (from 1.5m), and to a 0.76 Females 18-49 rating (from 1.10), STEVIE J & JOSELINE was down to 982,000/0.64 (from 1.71m/1.34), and HIT THE FLOOR dropped to 920,000/0.68 (from 1.11m/0.85). On USA, 3 hours of WWE ENTERTAINMENT averaged 3.458 million viewers, a 1.66 Males 18-49 rating, and a 1.50 Males 12-34 rating. AMERICAN DAD, on TBS, was down to 1.01m (from 1.14m) and had a 0.67 in Males 18-49, while FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE rose to another series-high 707,000 viewers and had a 0.25 in Females 18-49; an ANGIE TRIBECA rerun ("The Inside Man") found 623,000 viewers. On Syfy, THE MAGICIANS rose 40K viewers, to 712,000 (0.27/0.29 in F/M 18-49), LOST GIRL ticked up to 387,000 (from 376K), and BITTEN was down slightly to 332,000 (from 336K). A&E's BATES MOTEL lost 100K, to 1.45m (strong 0.73 in Females 18-49), and DAMIEN fell over 200K viewers, to 535,000. Finally, on AHC, AGAINST THE ODDS was up to 237,000 (from 205K), on Logo, RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE ticked down to 358,000 (from 377K), and on Smithsonian, the penultimate episode of MAJOR LEAGUE LEGENDS dropped 40K, to 113,000.

Top Cable Networks: Week Ending March 13, 2016

Cable News channels again led the week in both primetime and total day. CNN led in primetime (3.06 million), while FOX NEWS took the win in total day (1.42m). Other networks included FOX BUSINESS with 116,000 in primetime, and 97,000 total day; CNBC (339,000/148,000), and MSNBC (941,000/540,000). AMC also had a solid week in primetime (1.69m) no doubt helped by 'The Walking Dead.' Other networks of interest include FREEFORM (703,000 in primetime), FX (919,000), and OXYGEN (238,000). In its first week with 2 scripted originals airing, WGN AMERICA hauled in an average of 362,000 viewers in primetime. Losers for the week include CENTRIC (53,000), CLOO (37,000), and VH1 CLASSIC (34,000).

Both the REPUBLICAN DEBATE and DEMOCRATIC DEBATE made their way to the top 3 for the week on Twitter. The former had over 1M more tweets than the latter (1.72M vs. 670,000), over 3M more unique views (7.82M vs. 4.80M), and over 200K more unique authors (400,000 vs. 169,000). The season finale of THE BACHELOR was in second place with 703,000 tweets, 6.75M unique views, and more than 116M impressions. THE KIDS CHOICE AWARDS generated 457,000 tweets (contributed by 160,000 people) that were seen by 4.5M people (with 18.86M impressions). PRETTY LITTLE LIARS had 65,000 tweets with 798,000 unique views, while TEEN WOLF was at (177,000/765,000), and ONCE UPON A TIME was at (49,000/583,000). All 3 Shondaland shows made the list again this week: GREY'S ANATOMY had 57,000 tweets with 1.75M unique views (& 3.51M impressions), SCANDAL was at (81,000/1.19M), and the penultimate episode of HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER was at (76,000/1.1M). The season premiere of THE CARMICHAEL SHOW had 9,000 tweets written by 4,000 individuals, that were seen by 606,000 unique people. Finally, THE VICTORIA'S SECRET SWIM SPECIAL brought in 44,000 tweets and 951,000 views.

SUNDAY MARCH 13, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

AMC's THE WALKING DEAD again led the day with 12.53 million viewers (down from 12.82M), and led in all demos: Households (6.77), 18-49 (5.69), 18-34 (4.93), 25-54 (6.60), and 50+ (3.22). The gender breakdown favored the males in all 3 demos: in the 12-34s, it was split 4.23 vs. 5.10 females vs. males, in the 18-34s, it was 4.63 vs. 5.22, and in the 18-49s, it was 5.57 vs. 6.35. TALKING DEAD rose to 5.06M viewers this week (from 4.84M), and performed well in all demos as well: Households (2.84), 18-49 (2.34), 18-34 (4.93), 25-54 (6.60), and 50+ (3.22). TALKING skewed male in both the 12-34 demo (1.65 vs. 1.68) and the 18-49 demo (2.32 vs. 2.35), but oddly skewed female in the 18-34 demo (1.81 vs. 1.76).

Elsewhere on cable, LAST WEEK TONIGHT, on HBO, rose to 962,000 (from 824K) and skewed male in the 18-49s (0.24 vs. 0.50); GIRLS dipped to 479,000 (from 497K), and skewed female in the 18-34s (0.28 vs. 0.15), and in the 18-49s (0.23 vs. 0.21); VINYL was up to 618,000 (from 577K) and had too low of a demo to get any gender breakdown. TOGETHERNESS fell to 264,000 (from 321K), its second-lowest numbers ever (2/15/15: 231K). Showtime's SHAMELESS was up to 1.68M this week (from 1.5M) and skewed female in all demos, most especially in the 18-34s (0.61 vs. 0.43); BILLIONS ticked up to 1.09M (from 1.05M) and notched a 0.37 18-49 rating (leaning male 0.25 vs. 0.48), and THE CIRCUS had 219,000 viewers (from 192K). In its second episode of the season, I AM CAIT, on E!, rose to 771,000 (from 745K), and HOLLYWOOD MEDIUM rose to 784,000 (from 731K); both dominated the female 18-49 demo (0.44 & 0.39). Among lower-rated cables, Ovation's RACHEL HUNTER'S TOUR OF BEAUTY ticked down to 54,000 (from 69K), ROUGH DRAFT WITH REZA ASLAN was at 14,000 (from 16K), and LILY COLE'S ART MATTERS was a speck at a mere 1,000 viewers (from 3K).

SATURDAY MARCH 12, 2016 CABLE TV RATINGS

THE KIDS CHOICE AWARDS easily led the night with a cumulative 4.426 million viewers from 5 different networks. The Nickelodeon run was obviously the highest, with a 0.72 18-49 rating and 3.32 million viewers. It also had a 1.22 in Females 12-34, and a 0.82 in Males 12-34, and if we look even younger, it was at 2.82 in F 12-17, and 1.83 in M 12-17 (average of 2.33 among Teens 12-17). The other networks; TeenNick, Nicktoons, TV Land and CMT; had a cumulative 1.11m for the awards show. Also on Nickelodeon, SCHOOL OF ROCK premiered to 2.38 million and a 0.49 18-49 rating. Among younger demos, the show pulled a 0.88 in Females 12-34, a 0.53 in Males 12-34, and a whopping 1.67 in teens 12-17.

Elsewhere on cable, COLLEGE BASKETBALL, on ESPN ruled the day. The top ACC game was Virginia/North Carolina, with 2.81 million viewers, and a 1.29 in Males 18-49. The top Big 12 game was West Virginia/Kansas which had 2.42 million (0.96 Males 18-49), and top SEC game was Georgia/Kentucky which had 1.97 million (0.80 Males 18-49). BLACK SAILS, on Starz, rose to 677,000 viewers (from 658K), and managed a 0.22 in the 18-49's, and a 0.34 in Adults 50+. GHOST ADVENTURES, on Travel, was strong with 901,000 viewers (way up from 696K), and KILLER POST, on Oxygen, scraped together 274,000 (from 198K). Centric's BEING about doubled to 203,000 (from 117K), Destination America's MOUNTAIN MONSTERS was down to 411,000 (from 464K), and Esquire's BEOWULF rose 19K, to 164,000. On Reelz, AUTOPSY was strong with 272,000 viewers (up from 221K), but COPYCAT KILLERS could only manage 151,000 (down from 208K). Finally, THE ARTFUL DETECTIVE, on Ovation, found 172,000 viewers, but only had a minuscule 0.01 in the 18-49's.
