Today was my last day of High School, so to celebrate, I'm going to provide some Twitter ratings.

THE VOICE led the week in both authors (107,000) and total tweets (582,000), and EMPIRE's second-place finish really wasn't even close with 77,000 authors and 298,000 tweets. GAME OF THRONES was third in total tweets (200,000), but managed to pull ahead of EMPIRE with authors (84,000). EMPIRE had a very high 3.9 tweets per person though, compared to THRONES's 2.4. The season finale of WGN America's UNDERGROUND raked in 51,000 tweets and 8,000 authors, while Starz's old-skewing OUTLANDER could only manage 19,000 tweets & 3,000 authors.

SELECT WEDNESDAY CABLE RATINGS FROM MARCH 30, 2017 - MAY 11, 2016

Select Ratings from Original Wednesday Cable telecasts from March 30 - May 11, 2016:

Here's a recap of the ratings of Wednesday shows in April. MTV's CATFISH ranged between 661,000 viewers to 1.014 million viewers from March 24 - May 11, 2016. On Comedy Central, BROAD CITY concluded its third season with 626,000 viewers on 4/20, down from both the season premiere (772K) and season 2 finale (672K). UNDERGROUND, on WGN America, concluded its inaugural season on 5/11, with 1.012 million viewers - it's highest numbers since the series premiere back in March (1.421M). Over the course of 7 episodes FX's THE AMERICANS had a high of 1.04 million viewers on 4/6, and a low of 820,000 on 3/30; it had 895,000 for its most recent episode. On Freeform, the season 3 finale of YOUNG & HUNGRY notched 538,000 viewers (down from 648K for the season premiere), and the mid-season 5 finale had 592,000 viewers (down from 620K for the season premiere). On TV Land, the season 5 premiere of THE SOUL MAN brought in 445,000 viewers, down from the 606K for the season 4 premiere, but up from the 399K/335K for last season's finale. Also on TV Land was the series premiere of LOPEZ which found 646,000 viewers (and 674K on Nick-at-Night). On Pop, SCHITT'S CREEK averaged between 183,000 & 252,000 viewers, and on El Rey, LUCHA UNDERGROUND averaged between 42,000 & 156,000 over the course of 14 episodes. Sundance's HAP AND LEONARD concluded its inaugural season with a series-low 192,000 viewers (down from 429K for the series premiere); THE LAST PANTHERS premiered to 78,000 on April 13th. Among lower-rated cables, the series premiere of MICRO MONSTERS WITH DAVID ATTENBOROUGH (Smithsonian) had 71,000 on 5/4, and the 2 premiere episodes of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ART had 33,000 and 15,000.

SELECT TUESDAY CABLE RATINGS FROM MARCH 29, 2016 - MAY 10, 2016

Select Ratings from Original Tuesday Cable telecasts from March 29 - May 10, 2016:

Here's a recap of the ratings of Tuesday shows in April. AMERICAN CRIME STORY concluded its inaugural season on April 5 to the tune of 3.28 million viewers; down from the 5.12M who saw the series premiere; however, the highest mark since the February 16th installment. Lifetime's DANCE MOMS remained steady throughout its April run, with a peak of 1.66M viewers on April 12 - it's highest mark since April 21, 2015. On Freeform, SHADOWHUNTERS concluded it's first season with a series-low 762,000 viewers (down from 1.82M for the series premiere), and STITCHERS rose from it's second season premiere to 459,000, but was sub-400K for the remainder of the season. OUTSIDERS, on WGN America, finished its first season with 956,000 viewers, its highest mark since the series premiere (1.06M). AMC's miniseries THE NIGHT MANAGER premiered to 933,000 viewers on April 19, and steadily fell week-to-week to 812,000, 806,000, and 725,000. The series premiere of OUTDAUGHTERED, on TLC, collected 1.25M viewers - losing only 267K from it's lead-in LITTLE PEOPLE, BIG WORLD. OUTDAUGHTERED pulled it's highest rating in the P50+ demographic (0.75), and in Females 18-49 it had a 0.43 vs. 0.15 for Males. The second week of FRIDAY NIGHT TYKES: STEEL CITY (Esquire) saw 58,000 for the first episode, and 76,000 for the second (down from 137K for the series premiere). The premiere of BOUNDLESS on April 12 had a mere 31,000 viewers, but rose to 69,000 the second week. One rating of particular note is the final broadcast from Aljazeera network - FAULT LINES - which had 13,000 viewers.

Among scripted series, EMPIRE led the week with 199,000 tweets, but was edged out by GAME OF THRONES in unique authors (44,000 vs. 70,000); THRONES was second in total tweets (154,000). GREY'S ANATOMY again beat SCANDAL this week in total tweets (74,000 to 65,000), and had almost twice as many authors (33,000 to 18,000). The season finale of BLUE BLOODS generated 12,000 tweets written by 2,000 authors, and the penultimate episode of UNDERGROUND had 26,000 tweets and 4,000 authors. For some reason, THE GOOD WIFE series finale didn't make the list this week, but by the end of the broadcast, #TheGoodWife had 10.4K tweets and #GoodWifeFarewell had 7,724, for a total of about 18,000.

SELECT MONDAY CABLE RATINGS FROM MARCH 28 - MAY 9, 2016

Select Ratings from Original Thursday Cable telecasts from March 28 - May 9, 2016:

The month long hiatus has concluded! Just an FYI, I will cover the ratings for all shows up until May 25, 2016. After that, I will be taking the 2016-17 TV season off, and will resume at the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

Here's a recap of the ratings of Monday shows in April. BETTER CALL SAUL concluded its second season with 2.26 million viewers which was down from 2.53M from the season 1 finale. It was; however, better than the 1.5 million viewers BREAKING BAD pulled in its second season finale back in 2009. TURN began its third season with a series-low 471,000 viewers, and managed to rise to 580,000 2-episodes later, but it was still lower than any episode in seasons 1 and 2. A&E's BATES MOTEL stayed steady over the course of its fourth season, never falling below 1.3 million viewers, but did hit a series-low 1.33M for the April 18th installment. On Syfy, THE MAGICIANS finished its inaugural season with 676,000 viewers, down from the 1.113 million who saw the series premiere in January, and its third lowest rated episode of the season.  HUNTERS began with a drastically low 537,000 viewers, stayed below that  number throughout its run so far. Also on Syfy, 12 MONKEYS returned from a year-long hiatus, but forgot to bring its viewers with it; dropping to a series-low 476,000 for its season premiere, and has fell even lower for the following episodes. Logo's RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE concluded its eighth season with 358,000 viewers, its highest since March, and GAY FOR PLAY began with 183,000 and 137,000 for its two premiere episodes. THE DETOUR, on TBS, began with solid 1.17M and 1.04M episodes and has stayed above 750K for its entire run so far. Also on TBS, FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE has averaged over 600,000 viewers for the past 4 episodes, on par with its season average. Finally, HBO's AFTER THE THRONES began with 165,000 viewers, a minuscule number in itself, but made even worse when compared to the 8 million viewers that GoT had the night prior.

SELECT SUNDAY CABLE TV RATINGS FROM MARCH 27 - MAY 8, 2016

Here's a recap of the ratings of Sunday shows in April. AMC's THE WALKING DEAD concluded its sixth season with a massive 14.19 million viewers, its second most viewed episode of the season (after the premiere's 14.63M), but its lowest finale rating since season 3 (12.42M). FEAR THE WALKING DEAD began its second season with 6.67 million viewers, much lower than series premiere which brought in 10.13M, but only slightly lower than the season one finale (6.86M). The show has settled at around the 4.5M mark. On Showtime, SHAMELESS concluded its sixth season with 1.63 million viewers, up from the season premiere (1.44M) and from the season five finale (1.55M); BILLIONS finished its first season with a solid 1.01 million viewers, higher than the series premiere (904K), and only slightly lower than the season average (1.053M). After a 13-month hiatus, HOUSE OF LIES began its fifth season with a series low 399,000 viewers, down from the season 4 premiere (723K) and finale (503K), it rose to 418,000 in week 2, but fell down to a dismal 258,000 by week 5. DICE premiered to a low 254,000 viewers, and fell to 155,000 by week 5; PENNY DREADFUL began its third season with 540,000 viewers, slightly lower than last year's premiere (575K), but not a series low; and it rose to 554,000 in its second week. HBO's GAME OF THRONES premiered to 7.94 million viewers (down slightly from last year's 8 million), lead-out SILICON VALLEY started with 1.86M (down from last year's 2.13M), and VEEP began with 1.1M (a rise from last year's 1.05M). The series finale of TOGETHERNESS found 398,000 viewers (up from 326K last year), it's highest rated episode since the season premiere (430K), and fifth highest viewed episode ever. VINYL ended with 730,000, while GIRLS concluded to 582,000 and 512,000 for its two episodes. Finally, THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE, on Starz, premiered to 363,000 and 334,00 for its two premiere episodes, but dropped to 163,000 by its fifth episode. It is still performing better than Starz's most recent Sunday show, FLESH AND BONE, which was at 122K by its fifth episode, and eventually concluded with 93,000.

Racial Ratings: Top TV Shows for the Week Ending March 6, 2016

NOTE: I only received the data for the top 10 shows based on African-American household rating. I did not get any Hispanic data.

FOX's ROSEWOOD led the week in percentage of black viewers, with almost 43% of its audience in that demographic (1.5 million). ABC's HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER led in total black viewers with 1.64 million, accounting for about 36% of its total audience. The brand new series THE FAMILY which aired in place of SCANDAL, pulled in 1.36 million African-American viewers (24%), and the long running GREY'S ANATOMY had 1.37m, or about 18% of its viewing audience. Finally, CBS's NCIS had over 1.28 million African-American viewers, but because of its huge overall audience size, it only equated to about 8%.

Weekly Top Twitter Ratings: Week of April 26 - May 2, 2016

Top 35 Shows on Twitter: Week Ending May 2, 2016

The 2016 NFL DRAFT easily won the week on Twitter with over 2.51 million tweets on Thursday with the first round, and 1.12 million tweets on Friday with rounds two and three. About 728,000 people tweeted on Thursday, while 384,000 joined in on Friday. GAME OF THRONES was dominant in its second week with over 153,000 unique authors contributing to a massive 338,000 tweets. EMPIRE was also strong, delivering 128,000 tweets and 31,000 authors, but THE FLASH could only muster up 29,000 tweets and 8,000 authors. Finally, on TGIT, GREY'S ANATOMY edged out SCANDAL in tweets (57,000 vs. 53,000) and in authors (31,000 vs. 16,000).

SELECT SATURDAY CABLE TV RATINGS FROM MARCH 26 - MAY 7, 2016

Select Ratings from Original Thursday Cable telecasts from March 26 - May 7, 2016:

Here's a recap of the ratings of Saturday shows in April. OUTLANDER, on Starz, premiered its second season to a series-high 1.457 million viewers, more than double the rating of the series premiere in 2014 (721K), and almost 500K viewers more than the season 1 finale (981K). The previous high was 1.417 million for the season 1 fall finale. BLACK SAILS concluded its third season with 644,000 viewers, the lowest finale rating yet (vs. 762K and 668K), and 200K lower than the season premiere (843K); though it has been renewed for a fourth season to air in 2017. Esquire's BEOWULF closed its inaugural season with 157,000 viewers, down from the season premiere (267K), but way up from Esquire's other original series SPOTLESS which concluded to only 54,000.   THE ARTFUL DETECTIVE, on Ovation, stayed solid in viewership ranging between 122,000 and 215,000 over the course of 7 episodes, but was at a 0.01 in the 18-49's for every episode except for the May 7th installment (0.02). MISS FISHER'S MURDER MYSTERIES premiered to 174,000 viewers on April 2 and has stayed relatively steady over the course of 6 episodes. Centric's BEING finished its second season with 103,000 viewers, although it is on par with the season ratings as a whole, it is down slightly from the season premiere (117K), and season one finale (169K). The season high was a fluke (?) 203,000 viewers for the March 12 episode, and the season low was 93,000 on April 2; it averaged 118,000 over 8 episodes. CURVY STYLE WITH TIMOTHY SNELL premiered to 92,000 on April 30, and fell to 59,000 in week 2. HBO's CONFIRMATION pulled in 936,000 viewers on April 16, and LEMONADE, which aired the week after, had 787,000.

Beyonce's LEMONADE ruled the week on Twitter with 696,000 tweets and 204,000 unique authors. NBC's THE VOICE was close behind with 507,000 tweets and 126,000 authors, but FOX's hit EMPIRE could only manage 149,000 tweets and 35,000 authors, enough for fourth on the week. UNDERGROUND, on WGN America, had a solid 31,000 tweets written by 5,000 authors, but OUTLANDER, on Starz, could only manage 17,000 tweets and 3,000 authors. Finally, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD was much lower than its parent series, bringing in only 34,000 tweets and 12,000 authors.

SELECT FRIDAY CABLE TV RATINGS FROM MARCH 25 - MAY 6, 2016

Here's a recap of the ratings of Friday shows in April. HBO's VICE averaged 536,000 total viewers over the past 6 episodes, with the most recent episode delivering only 407,000. ANIMALS. concluded its inaugural season with 246,000 viewers on 4/8, up from the 239,000 who watched the season premiere. On Syfy, WYNONNA EARP began with a low 801,000 viewers on 4/1, and dropped to 548,000 by its sixth episode, on par with recent Syfy premieres. ANCIENT ALIENS, on History, began its 11th season with 1.25 million viewers, down from the season 10 finale which brought in 1.48m on 10/9/15. MOTIVE, on USA, premiered its third season to 706,000 viewers on 4/1, and stayed relatively steady for 3 more weeks, before moving to Sundays. Cinemax's BANSHEE began its short fourth season with 356,000 viewers on 4/1, its second lowest viewed episode ever (the 3/8/13 episode had 335K), and lowest premiere rating ever (vs. 483K in 2013, 491K in 2014, and 547K in 2015). The show fell to series-lows in week's 2 and 3 though (277,000 and 290,000), but bounced up to a season high 425,000 by week 6 (though still lower than any episode from season 3). Chiller's first foray into scripted programming, SLASHER, finished its 8-episode run with 86,000 viewers on 4/15, its most viewed episode since the 2 series premiere episodes from early March (120K and 110K). Finally, a Showtime special titled SPRING BROKE found 131,000 viewers on March 25.

The CNN DEMOCRATIC DEBATE easily won the week on Twitter with 920,000 tweets and 181,000 unique authors, this was 6 times more than EMPIRE which had 163,000 tweets and 38,000 unique authors. HBO's CONFIRMATION did well socially, with 59,000 tweets written by 17,000 people. The season finale of SUPERGIRL generated 29,000 tweets and 8,000 authors, while the finale of IZOMBIE generated only 20,000 tweets and 4,000 authors. Other notables include OUTLANDER which had 21,000 tweets, and the finale of GIRLS which had just 8,000.

SELECT THURSDAY CABLE TV RATINGS FROM MARCH 24, 2016 - MAY 5, 2016

Here's a recap of the ratings of Thursday shows in April. History's VIKINGS concluded the first part of its fourth season with 2.4 million viewers, exactly even with the season premiere, but down from the 2.73 million of the third season finale from 2015. AMERICARNA, on Velocity, averaged 248K viewers over the course of 5 weeks, and concluded its third season wih 226,000 viewers in 4/21, down from 351K for the season premiere. On TruTV, IMPRACTICAL JOKERS averaged 805K viewers over 7 weeks, with a high of 876,000 on 3/24, and a low of 683,000 on 4/28; the most recent episode scored 753,000. BRINGING UP BATES, on UP, finished its third season on 4/7 with 210,000 viewers, down from 351K for the season premiere; and also aired a Mother's Day special on 5/5 which brought in 199,000. ORPHAN BLACK, on BBC America, returned for its fourth season with a series-low 229,000 viewers (down from 535K for last year's premiere), it rose to 271,000 in week two, but promptly dropped back down to 242,000 and 218,000 in weeks three and four. Showtime's GIGOLOS concluded its sixth season on 5/5 with 112,000 viewers, the show averaged 130,000 viewers over its 9-episode run with a high of 200,000 on 3/31, and a low of 99,000 on 4/7.FLUFFY BREAKS EVEN, on Fuse, began its second season with 105,000 and 86,000 viewers for its two episodes and found 78,000 for its most recent episode on 5/5. Finally, BASKETS, on FX, finished its inaugural run with 564,000 viewers (down from 1.04M for the season premiere), and PORTLANDIA, on IFC, concluded its sixth season with 120,000 (down from 207K for the season premiere).

THE MTV MOVIE AWARDS led the week with 403,000 tweets and 219,000 unique authors. The finale of AMERICAN IDOL was a close second with 401,000 tweets, but was much lower with 123,000 unique authors. FEAR THE WALKING DEAD premiered its second season with 79,000 tweets (27,000 unique authors), and the second week of EMPIRE's return brought in 228,000 tweets.  The second season premiere of OUTLANDER had 30,000 tweets written by 7,000 people, and WGN America's UNDERGROUND had 27,000 tweets and 5,000 authors.

Top Cable Networks: Week Ending March 20, 2016

Fueled by THE WALKING DEAD and BETTER CALL SAUL, AMC pulled 1.67 million viewers in primetime over the course of the week, but only managed 585,000 in total day. FOX NEWS was the top overall network with 2.62 million primetime viewers and 1.41 million viewers in total day. With the new original series SLASHER, CHILLER pulled in 66,000 primetime viewers, and with THE PEOPLE VS OJ SIMPSON, FX raked in 1,07 million viewers in primetime.

The GOP TOWN HALL had a unique audience of 5.21 million people, and 724,000 total tweets. EMPIRE stayed dominant in its spring premiere with 471,000 tweets and 2.66 million unique views. IHEARTRADIO MUSIC AWARDS pulled in over 3.27 million total tweets written by 306,000 unique authors, and THE WALKING DEAD had 932,000 tweets contributed by 265,000 people. On CBS, CRIMINAL MINDS led the week with a unique audience of 1.22 million & 36,000 tweets; CARPOOL KARAOKE had 982,000 impressions and 13,000 tweets.
