Bored to Death (HBO): Ratings Recap

HBO's 'Bored to Death' premiered September 20, 2009 to an OK 0.5/1 adults 18-49 rating/share and just over 1 million viewers. It struggled to retain those figures, only logging above 1 million on one other occasion in the first season, and fell to 633,000 for the finale. It was somehow renewed for a second season which aired in 2010 and was surprisingly up in the ratings over its first season, averaging a 0.44 adults 18-49 rating (vs. 0.38) and 927,000 viewers (vs. 775,000). The third-to-last episode also had the show's series-high in viewership at 1.1 million. Things looked promising for the third season, but when it aired 2011 it had dismal numbers. The new season dropped to just 240,000 viewers, fell as low as 153,000, and averaged only 225,000 - a huge drop from the first two seasons. It was cancelled after three seasons.
