Album Ratings: Week Ending March 11, 2021

Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.

Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: the Double Album' was again the week's top selling album, logging 78,000 sales in the tracking week ending March 11 with 6,000 in pure sales, bringing its total U.S. sales up to nearly 1.2 million. Pop Smoke's 'Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon' and Pooh Shiesty's 'Shiesty Season' both ticked up a spot this week with the former scoring 40,000 units in second-place, and the latter at around 32,000 for third. The Weeknd's 'After Hours' returned to the Billboard Top 10 this week (32,000) by beating out 'The Highlights' in pure sales (3,000 to 2,000) though 'Highlights' wasn't too far out of the top 10, notching a 16th place finish with ~24,000 units. Elsewhere, Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia' and Ariana Grande's 'Positions' swapped places this week with 'Nostalgia' in sixth (29,500) and 'Positions' in eighth (28,000). Of note outside the top 10 (according to Billboard) was Megan Thee Stallion's 'Good News' (22,900), Doja Cat's 'Hot Pink' (21,600), Harry Styles's 'Fine Line' (20,400), Taylor Swift's 'Evermore' (19,700) & 'Folklore' (17,600), Eminem's 'Music to be Murdered By' (17,000), BTS's 'BE' (14,500), and Zara Larsson's 'Poster Girl' (7,000).
