Album Ratings: Week Ending March 18, 2021

Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.

'Dangerous: the Double Album' from Morgan Wallen has now spent 10 weeks atop the album sales chart, and consequently, atop the Billboard 200. With 69,000 units in the tracking week ending March 18, it becomes the first album since 1987 to spend its first 10 weeks at #1 on the chart. In the second spot, Pop Smoke's 'Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon' was identical to last week in both placement and units (40,000), but Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia' rose from 6-3 with 37,000 units while Pooh Shiesty's 'Shiesty Season' did the opposite, falling 3-6 with 30,000. There were two debuts on the chart this week as Giveon's dropped 'When it's All Said and Done ... Take Time' to 32,000 units and Rob Zombie delivered 'The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy' to 28,000. Taylor Swift's 'Folklore' rounded out the Billboard Top 10 with 28,000 units thanks to a post-Grammys bump. Of note below the Billboard top 10 was Nick Jonas's new set 'Spaceman' (26,300), Harry Styles's 'Fine Line' (25,400), Ariana Grande's 'Positions' (25,000), Taylor Swift's 'Evermore' (24,000), Billie Eilish's 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?' (24,000), SZA's 'Good News' (23,900), Doja Cat's 'Hot Pink' (23,300), Selena Gomez's 'Revelacion' (22,600), and BTS's 'BE' (15,300).
