Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
Morgan Wallen has spent an eighth consecutive week atop the album sales chart as his 'Dangerous: The Double Album' remains at the summit in the tracking week ending March 4, 2021. The set collected 82,000 units in the week, a healthy margin over second-ranked The Weeknd's 'The Highlights' which logged 52,000. The rest of the chart is largely the same from last week with 'Shiesty Season' and 'The Voice' flipping places, and Ariana Grande's 'Positions' falling 2-6 with 32,000 units. Elsewhere, 'Future Nostalgia' and 'What You See is What You Get' held at 8 & 9 while Lil Baby's 'My Turn' rose 10-7 with 30,000 and was replaced by Juice Wrld's 'Legends Never Die' in the 10th spot (27,000). Of note outside the Billboard Top 10 was Megan Thee Stallion's 'Good News' (23,000), Billie Eilish's 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?' (22,300), Taylor Swift's 'Evermore' (21,700) & 'Folklore' (18,600), Machine Gun Kelly's 'Tickets to My Downfall' (19,800), Harry Styles's 'Fine Line' (19,800), Doja Cat's 'Hot Pink' (19,600), and BTS's 'BE' (15,800).
