Album Ratings: Week Ending October 14, 2021

Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.

After spending the last 2 weeks at #2, Drake's 'Certified Lover Boy' returned to the top of the album sales chart, moving 94,000 album-equivalent units in the tracking week ending Oct. 14th. As has been standard, the vast majority (92,000) came from streaming with only about 1,000 from pure album sales. In the second spot is the debut of Don Toliver's new set 'Life of a Don' which began with 68,000 units and was the week's top performer in pure album sales (18,000). With that, YoungBoy Never Broke Again's 'Sincerely, Kentrell' and Meek Mill's 'Expensive Pain' switched positions with the former up 4-3 this week and the latter down 3-4. Also switching spots was Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' (6-5) and Lil Nas X's 'Montero' (5-6) though both logged a rounded 43,000 units. Doja Cat's 'Planet Her' remained at #7 this week and both Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' (9-8) and Kanye West's 'Donda' (10-9) each gained a spot while The Kid Laroi rounded out the top 10 with 'F*CK LOVE' (32,000).
