U.S. Primetime Broadcast TV Ratings: 10/16 - 10/22/2017

Ratings highlights for the week of October 16, 2017 - October 22, 2017 in the US.

On Monday, NBC won the night in the 18-49 demo (1.9/7), but CBS took victory in total viewers (6.61 million). NBC was propelled by 'The Voice' which averaged a 2.4 rating and 10.37 million viewers, and 'The Brave' (1.0/4, 4.97M). CBS was led by 'The Big Bang Theory' (2.8/11, 13.07M), which was followed by: '9JKL' (1.2/5, 6.66M), 'Kevin Can Wait' (1.1/4, 5.96M), 'Me, Myself and I' (0.9/3, 4.28M), and 'Scorpion' (0.8/3, 4.84M). ABC was propelled by 'The Good Doctor' which had a 2.0/8 rating/share, and 10.6 million viewers.

On Tuesday, NBC took victory in the 18-49 demo (2.0/8) while CBS won the night in total viewers (10.96 million). 'The Voice' (2.2/8) and 'This Is Us' (2.9/10) paved the way to an NBC win, while 'NCIS' (12.85M), 'Bull' (10.49M), and 'NCIS: New Orleans' (9.54M) led towards CBS's win. ABC's comedy block was led by 'The Middle' (1.3/5, 5.53M), 'Fresh Off the Boat' (1.1/4, 3.93M), and 'blackish' (1.1/4, 4.13M), but 'The Mayor' (0.8/3, 2.96M) and 'Kevin (Probably) Saves the World' (0.8/3, 3.26M) both underperformed.

On Wednesday, FOX won in the demo, but CBS won in total viewers. FOX's 'Empire' (1.8/7, 5.65M) led the entire night in the 18-49 demographic, and 'Star' (1.3/5, 4.22M) was middle-of-the-road. CBS aired 'Survivor' (1.8/7, 8.12M) was second on the night in the demo but led in total viewers; 'Seal Team' (1.1/4, 7.11M) lost 0.7 from its 'Survivor' lead-in, but 'Criminal Minds' (1.0/4/5.94M) had much better retention from its 'Seal' lead-in. ABC's night was led by 'The Goldbergs' (1.5/6, 5.62M) and 'Modern Family' (1.7/7, 6.22M). 

On Thursday, CBS's coverage of 'Thursday Night Football' pushed it to a daily win in both 18-49 demo (4.1/16) and total viewers (13.26M). The game between Kansas City and Oakland averaged a 4.5/17 18-49 rating/share and 14.38 million viewers. NBC's comedy block was led by 'Superstore' (1.1/4, 4.2M), 'The Good Place' (1.1/4, 3.92M), 'Will and Grace' (1.7/6, 6.69M), and 'Great News' (0.8/3, 3.69M). On ABC, a new episode of 'Scandal' (1.1/4, 4.7M) followed two Halloween specials, and 'How to Get Away with Murder' (0.9/4, 3.56M) followed at 10.

On Friday, CBS won the night in both the demo (0.9/4) and in total viewers (8.17M). CBS's night consisted of new episodes of 'MacGyver' (0.8/4, 6.77M), 'Hawaii Five-0' (1.0/4, 8.67M), and 'Blue Bloods' (0.9/4, 9.08M). On ABC, 'Once Upon a Time' (0.5/3, 2.49M) led-off the night, followed by 'Marvels Inhumans' (0.4/2, 1.98M); both were at embarrassingly low numbers. CW's 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' was the lowest rated and lowest viewed show on the week, averaging a 0.21/1 18-49 rating and just 597,000 viewers. 'Jane the Virgin' just barely performed better, at 0.22/1 and 605,000. 

On Sunday, NBC's 'Sunday Night Football' led the network to a win in the demo (5.6/19), and in total viewers (16.59M). The game averaged a 6.5/22 18-49 rating/share, and 19.24 million viewers. On CBS, '60 Minutes' was second on the night in the demo (2.4/9) and in total viewers (14.58 million). The 4 p.m. NFL game on CBS averaged an 11.34 household rating and 19.849 million viewers across the country, The 1 p.m. game NFL game on CBS averaged an 8.18 household rating and 13.363 million viewers; the 1 p.m. game on FOX averaged a 9.48 household rating and 16.124 million viewers.
