MONDAY
ESPN's 'Monday Night Football' led the entire night (including Broadcast) in the 18-49s (3.71), and was third on the night (highest on cable) in total viewers, with 10.28 million. It hit huge numbers in households (6.13), adults 25-54 (4.09), and adults 50+ (4.24). It led the entire night in males 18-49 (5.36), males 18-34 (3.74), males 12-34 (3.74), and adults 18-34 (3.02). The MLB ALDS game, on FS1, had a 2.68 household rating and 4.49 million viewers. It was second on cable in males 18-49 (1.63), males 18-34 (1.35), males 12-34 (1.22), adults 18-34 (1.03), adults 18-49 (1.24), adults 25-54 (1.42), and adults 50+ (2.32). The MLB NLDS (Dodgers/Diamondbacks), on TBS, had a 1.33 rating in households and 2.21 million viewers. It did a 0.66 in adults 18-49 (0.91 in males), a 0.56 in 18-34 (0.73 in males), a 0.50 in people 12-34 (0.70 in males), and a 0.76 in adults 25-54. On VH1, 'Love and Hip Hop Hollywood' had a 1.62 in females 18-49 with 2.08 million viewers, and 'Black Ink Crew Chicago' had a 0.87 in females 18-49 with 1.12 million viewers. Ovation's 'The Halcyon' had a minuscule 0.01 in the 18-49s and 58,000 viewers.
TUESDAY
'American Horror Story: Cult', on FX, led all of cable on Tuesday with a 1.04 18-49 rating and a 1.24 in females 18-49. It had 2.15 million viewers (down slightly from last week's 2.2M). USA Networks's 'WWE Smackdown' took second on the night in the 18-49s with a 0.8 (0.95 in males), and had 2.47 million viewers (up from 2.32M); also airing on USA was 'Chrisley Knows Best' (0.6 in 18-49s & 1.58M), and 'According to Chrisley' (0.35 & 939,000), both performed best in adults 25-54 (0.7 and 0.39 respectively). Third on the night belonged to BET's 'Hip Hop Awards' which had a 0.77 18-49 rating and more than 1.49 million total viewers; a simulcast on MTV2 had a 0.08 and 150,000 viewers. The combined airings drew a 0.85 rating and 1.642 million viewers. Last year's airing had a cumulative 0.88 rating and 1.824 million viewers (0.78/1.643M on BET and 0.10/181,000 on MTV2). 'Tales' which aired immediately afterwards, had a 0.51 rating and 1.04 million viewers.
WEDNESDAY
FS1's coverage of the 'MLB ALDS' between the Yankees and Indians was the top listing of the day on all of television - including both broadcast and cable. It had a 2.16 rating in the 18-49s, narrowly edging out FOX's 'Empire' (2.0). The game averaged 7.26 million viewers on FS1, and an additional 207,000 on FOX Deportes, and 142,000 on FOX Sports GO. The game also led all of television in males 18-49 (3.0), males 12-34 (2.23), adults 18-34 (1.78), adults 25-54 (2.42), and led all of cable in adults 50+ (3.63). The 'MLB NLDS' game between the Nationals and Cubs had a 1.04 rating in the 18-49s (1.51 in males), and averaged about 4.1 million viewers on TBS. Third on the day was Comedy Central's 'South Park' which had a 0.66 18-49 rating, and 1.12 million viewers; it had a 0.88 rating in males 18-49. 'Full Frontal with Samantha Bee' was even between males and females 18-49 (0.39), though females had a tenth more in the 12-34s (0.24 vs. 0.14); the show averaged 1.21 million viewers. 'You're the Worst' (FXX) had 0.10/206,000, and 'Lucha Underground' had 0.02/96,000 for its first-run episode and 0.01/43,000 for the re-airing.
THURSDAY
TBS's coverage of the MLB NLDS Game 5 between the Cubs and the Nationals notched a 2.0 18-49 rating and over 7.02 million viewers, just below yesterday's ALDS game. It led all cable across all of the demos: males 12-34 (1.97) & 18-49 (2.66), females 12-34 (0.8) & 18-49 (1.33), adults 25-54 (2.27), and adults 50+ (3.6). In total viewers, it was third on all of television, following only CBS's 'Thursday Night Football' (14.59M), and ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy (8.08M). According to Turner, the game had a 22.9 household rating in Chicago and a 14.0 rating in Washington D.C. Second on cable was the NFL Network coverage of 'Thursday Night Football' which had a 1.38 18-49 rating and 3.56 million viewers. On cable it was second on the day in the following demos: females 18-49 (0.82), males 18-49 (1.94), adults 18-34 (1.12), and adults 25-54 (1.64). It had a much younger skewing audience than baseball as it only did a 1.31 in adults 50+. On FX, 'Better Things' had a 0.18 rating and 520,000 viewers; up from last week's 0.11/377,000.
FRIDAY:
The MLB ALCS game 1 between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees, on FS1, led the entire night (broadcast included) in adults 18-34 (1.17), adults 18-49 (1.56), and adults 25-54 (1.88), males 12-34 (1.41), and males 18-49 (2.17). It also led all of cable in females 18-49 (0.96), and narrowly won in females 12-34 (0.66), just barely eclipsing 'Spongebob' (0.65). It had 6.16 million viewers: 1.304 million from New York City (13.4/23 in households), and 533,000 from Houston (13.8/24 in households). On Disney Channel, 'Ravens Home' averaged a 0.47 rating in females 12-34, a 0.72 in teens 12-17, and 1.18 million viewers; 'Stuck in the Middle' averaged a 0.36 in F12-34, a 0.59 in T12-17, and 1.1 million. The season finale of 'Room 104,' on HBO, had a 0.06 18-49 rating and 225,000 viewers, down from last week's 0.08/307,000; the show premiered back in July to a 0.09 rating and 249,000.
SATURDAY:
The top program of the day on cable belonged to TBS's coverage of an 'MLB NLCS' game between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers. The game averaged a 3.48 rating in households, a 1.78 18-49 rating (2.3 million people in that demo), and approximately 6.33 million total viewers. It led the entire day in adults 18-34 (1.39), males 18-49 (2.27), males 12-34 (1.47), adults 25-54 (2.1), and people over 50 (3.21). The game had 986,000 viewers in Los Angeles (11.0 household rating), and 1.057 million viewers in Chicago (18.1 household rating). The top college football game on cable was the Arkansas vs. Alabama game on ESPN which had a 2.23 household rating, a 1.14 18-49 rating (1.54 in males), and 3.87 million total viewers. The lowest rated college football game was the Nevada/Colorado State game which had a 0.27 household rating, a 0.13 18-49 rating, and 421,000 viewers. The 2-hour series finale of AMC's 'Halt and Catch Fire' found a 0.12 18-49 rating and 394,000 viewers. BBC America's 'Dirk Gently' had a 0.07 rating and 235,000 viewers.
SUNDAY:
For the fifth straight day, coverage of the MLB Playoffs led the day on cable. TBS's coverage between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers notched a 3.71 household rating, a 1.94 18-49 rating, and 6.76 million viewers. It led the entire day across the demos: males 18-49 (2.45), females 18-49 (1.44), adults 18-34 (1.61), adults 25-54 (2.18), males 12-34 (1.89), females 12-34 (0.96), and adults 50+ (3.36). It had 1.136 million viewers in Los Angeles (12.3 household rating), and 1.128 million viewers in Chicago (19.3 household rating). Outside of sports, the two series-finale episodes of Starz's 'Survivor's Remorse' both averaged a 0.08 18-49 rating and were at 226,000 and 216,000 viewers in total viewers. That was the show's lowest performance in total viewers since October 25, 2014 (161,000), and lowest in the demo since October 17, 2015 (also 0.08). On Showtime, 'Ray Donovan' averaged a 0.25 18-49 rating and 1.24 million viewers; and the 2 series-premiere episodes of 'White Famous' were at 0.06/154,000 and 0.04/129,000 viewers. In terms of total viewers, 'White Famous' had the lowest viewed series premiere for a Showtime program since 2011's 'Web Therapy' (45,000). The 2-hour season finale of 'Fear the Walking Dead' notched a 0.80 18-49 rating and 2.23 million viewers, even with last week (2.23M), but down from the season 2 finale (3.05M) and season 3 premiere (3.11M) in terms of total viewers.
