Album Ratings: Week Ending June 3, 2021

Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.

Taylor Swift's ninth studio album 'Evermore' soared to the top of the album sales chart in the tracking week ending June 3, rising 74-1 in the rankings with 202,000 album-equivalent units. The vast majority of these units come from 102,000 vinyls (first available this week) as well as from 69,000 CD sales due to autographed albums shipping out this week. Among all formats, 'Evermore' sold 192,000 pure albums - the largest week of the year - and also logged 9,000 SEA units. With this, Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' was pushed to second this week with a still-impressive 186,000 units, and J. Cole's 'The Off-Season' dipped to third with 58,000. Last week's third-ranked album, 'Scaled and Icy' from Twenty-One Pilots, tumbled to 22nd this week with 19,300 units as Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' (52,000) and Moneybagg Yo's 'A Gangsta's Pain' (43,000) again occupied the fourth and fifth spots. Finally, Juice Wrld's 'Goodbye and Good Riddance' rose 30-7 this week with 32,000 units, ranking just behind Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia' (34,000), but slightly ahead of DMX's posthumous release 'Exodus' (rounded 32,000).

Albums of note below the Billboard top 10 include: Justin Bieber's 'Justice' (28,900), Pop Smoke's 'Shoot for the Moon, Aim for the Stars' (28,300), Machine Gun Kelly's 'Tickets to My Downfall' (19,300), Harry Styles's 'Fine Line' (18,900), Ariana Grande's 'Positions' (17,900), and Nicki Minaj's 'Beam Me Up Scotty' (17,400).
