Band of Brothers (HBO): Ratings Recap

'Band of Brothers' was an HBO miniseries that premiered Sept. 9, 2001 with a really strong 9.9 million viewers - one of HBO's highest-rated premieres ever. Viewership dipped in the following weeks to 7.27 million and 6.29 million and it's hard to know if this was just normal loss of interest or whether it had partially to do with the events of 9/11 which happened two days after the first episode. 'Band of Brothers' was one of few programs that continued airing as scheduled after 9/11 as most everything on the broadcast networks were delayed a week. Either way, the show concluded with the lowest numbers of its run (3.2 HH rating & 5.05 million viewers) though even these numbers would've gotten any regular HBO series easily renewed.

Impress Me (Pop): Ratings Recap

Pop's 'Impress Me' premiered March 18, 2015 with a relatively good 'Schitt's Creek' lead-in (161,000 & 0.05) though was only able to hold about a quarter of that audience (48,000) and less than half of the demo (0.02). Things didn't improve from there, falling as low as 0.01 in the demo & 21,000 viewers and averaging just 44,000 viewers over 13 episodes. Needless to say, it was not renewed for a second season.

Man at Arms: Art of War (El Rey): Ratings Recap

'Man at Arms: Art of War' premiered June 8, 2017 on the micro-rated El Rey Network to a 0.02 adults 18-49 rating and 85,000 viewers. Though the first season numbers (0.02 rating & 57,000 viewers on-average) look bad, they were actually not terrible for El Rey. Unfortunately, the numbers plummeted in its second season down to zero adults 18-49 and just 25,000 viewers which led to its cancellation.

Rock This Boat (Pop): Ratings Recap

Pop's 'Rock This Boat' premiered January 14, 2015 with an hour-long episode which logged a 0.09 adults 18-49 rating with 219,000 viewers - solid numbers for Pop network. It fell into the mid-100Ks for the rest of its first season, ultimately averaging a 0.06 & 170,000 viewers. A second season aired in summer 2016 and began very low (68,000) but recovered up to 125,000 on-average & a 0.04 rating, neither of which were good enough to warrant a third season renewal.

It was not renewed for additional seasons.

Cleverman (Sundance TV): Ratings Recap

Sundance TV's 'Cleverman' was an Australian import that premiered June 1, 2016 to a 0.04 adults 18-49 rating & 197,000 viewers. It held most of its audience that season, averaging a 0.04 and about 150,000 viewers - not terrible numbers for Sundance. However the numbers tumbled by half in show's second season (2017) to a 0.02 rating and ~70,000 viewers.

It hit a demo & viewership high in its second episode (0.03 & 91,000), but concluded to just 44,000 viewers and averaged 60,000 which was not enough to warrant a second season renewal.

Hollywood Darlings (Pop): Ratings Recap

Pop's 'Hollywood Darlings' premiered a preview episode on April 5, 2017 to a 0.03 adults 18-49 rating & 103,000 viewers and pulled similar numbers for its regular timeslot premiere a week later (0.03 & 118,000). In relation to Pop scripted programming, the show actually pulled OK numbers, averaging a 0.03 rating in both seasons and well over 100K viewers, but it was not renewed for a third season.

Pop's 'Nightcap' premiered November 16, 2016 with a double episode at 0.02/0.01 in the demo and 146,000/74,000 viewers. Interestingly, ratings for the remainder of the first season were much more in-line with that first episode rather than the second, holding well above 130,000 viewers. A second season aired in summer 2017 and fell to a minuscule 0.01 demo rating and just over 100K viewers which was apparently not enough to warrant a third season.

Gomorrah (Sundance TV): Ratings Recap

'Gomorrah' is an Italian drama series that aired in U.S. on SundanceTV. It bowed August 24, 2016 to a 0.03 adults 18-49 rating with 126,000 viewers, but only averaged a 0.02 & 94,000 over its first 6 episodes. Sundance aired a second season in 2017 and the numbers did not get any better - falling to 0.01 & 63,000 on-average, and the last 3 seasons of the show never aired on linear TV in the U.S. They were; however, launched on HBO Max in 2021 and 2022 though obviously no viewership data is available for it.

The Circus (Showtime): Ratings Recap

Showtime's 'The Circus' is a political docuseries that premiered January 17, 2016 with the initial goal of documenting the 2016 presidential election though that scope broadened in subsequent seasons. It has been a fairly consistent ratings performer for the network, consistently at or above 0.03 in the 18-49 demo and 200,000 viewers which is more than can be said about most of Showtime's scripted originals at the moment. The show peaked in its fourth season (2019) when it averaged a 0.05 rating & nearly 250,000 viewers, but has dipped to 0.02 & ~180,000 viewers in the first half of its current 7th season. Couples Therapy (Showtime): Ratings Recap

Showtime's 'Couples Therapy' premiered September 6, 2019 to a low 0.02 adults 18-49 rating & 87,000 viewers which would actually end up being the best it would do in its first season which averaged just 0.01 & 48,000. A second season aired in 2021 and was modestly better at 65,000 viewers, but the third season (2022) crumbled to zero in the demo and 35,000 viewers. The status of a fourth season is uncertain.

Baroness Von Sketch Show (IFC): Ratings Recap

IFC's 'Baroness Von Sketch Show' premiered August 2, 2017 to a minuscule 0.03 adults 18-49 rating with 130,000 viewers, on par with what IFC originals tend to pull. A fifth aired in 2020 & 2021 and recovered some lost viewership (up to 81,000), but the show was not renewed for a sixth season.
