Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (FX): Ratings Recap

FX's 'Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll' premiered in 2015 to a 0.35 adults 18-49 rating with 867,000 viewers, losing almost half by its first season finale, down to 0.19 with 487,000 viewers. It averaged a 0.26 rating with 613,000 viewers over 10 episodes. A second season premiered in 2016 to a 0.22 rating with 529,000 viewers, remained relatively stable over the course of 10 episodes, concluding to 453,000 viewers, and averaging 419,000. It was not renewed for a third season.

United States of Tara (Showtime): Ratings Recap

Showtime's 'United States of Tara' premiered January 18, 2009 to a solid 881,00 viewers, had great audience retention in week 2 (834,000), but fell to 413,000 viewers for its first season finale. A second season premiered in 2010 to a 0.4 rating with 816,000 viewers, dipped to the low 400,000s in the first few weeks, before recovering mid-way through (701,000), and ultimately concluding to a 0.3 rating with 633,000 viewers. The third season premiered in 2011 to a low 0.2 rating with 411,000 viewers, hit a series-low 230,000 viewers in its eighth episode, and concluded to only 375,000 viewers. Due to low ratings it was not renewed for a fourth season.

In Plain Sight (USA): Ratings Recap

USA's 'In Plain Sight' premiered June 1, 2008 to a 1.3/4 adults 18-49 rating/share and 5.25 million viewers, shedding 0.2 and 1.5 million viewers, down to 1.1/3 and 3.78 million viewers by its inaugural season finale. A second season premiered in 2009 with a 1.7 rating and over 5.11 million viewers, ticking down to a 1.2 rating with 4.44 million viewers by season end. The third season, which aired in 2010, hovered between a 0.8 and 0.9 rating throughout, while the fourth season, which aired in 2011, hovered between a 0.9 and 1.0 rating throughout. A short 8-episode fifth and final season premiered in 2012 to a 0.8 rating and 4.01 million viewers, but the series finale managed only 0.7 rating with 3.2 million viewers.

Boss (Starz): Ratings Recap

Starz's 'Boss' premiered October 21, 2011 to a 0.21 adults 18-49 rating and 659,000 viewers, its series-high. It fell to 268,000 viewers by week three, but stabilized well, concluding its first season with a 0.14 rating and 505,000 viewers. A second season premiered in 2012 to a 0.13 rating with 317,000 viewers, hitting a high of 442,000 viewers for its second season/series finale. It was not renewed for a third season.

Californication (Showtime): Ratings Recap

Showtime's 'Californication' premiered on August 13, 2007 to a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating & 550,000 viewers, rose to 685,000 in week 2, and concluded its first season to a 0.3 rating with 488,000 viewers. After pulling similar numbers in its second season (2008), it finally found some life in its third season, premiering to 821,000 viewers and concluding with almost 1.06 million. The series aired for a total of seven 12-episode seasons, hitting a series-high 1.07 million viewers for the season six premiere, and a series-low 369,000 viewers in the penultimate episode of the fourth season. The final season premiered in 2014 to a 0.2 rating with 640,000 viewers, and concluded with a 0.16 rating with 481,000 viewers. A total of 84 episodes aired over its seven year run.

Wilfred (FX/FXX): Ratings Recap

The American version of 'Wilfred,' on FX, premiered on June 23, 2011 to a solid 1.2 adults 18-49 rating with 2.55 million viewers. It lost over a million viewers by week three (1.52 million), and dropped to 902,000 in its first season finale. The show returned in 2012 with a moderate series premiere (953,000) before rising dramatically in week 2 (2.53 million), then falling back down to 1.45 million in week 3 where it continued its descent, ultimately concluding to 541,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating. A third season premiered in 2013 to a 0.3 rating with 648,000 viewers and averaged 586,000 viewers over its 13 episodes. A 10-episode fourth and final season premiered in 2014 on FXX managing only to find 185,000 viewers for its season premiere and 247,000 for its series finale.

The Bastard Executioner (FX): Ratings Recap

FX's 'The Bastard Executioner' premiered in 2015 to a promising 0.83 adults 18-49 rating with 2.12 million viewers. It fell by over half in week 2 (0.39 rating & 1.09 million viewers), and was never able to recover. The series concluded with a 0.31 rating and 867,000 viewers, and averaged a 0.44 rating with 1.22 million viewers over its 10 episodes. It was not renewed for a second season.

Baskets (FX): Ratings Recap

UPDATED 2019: FX's 'Baskets' premiered on January 21, 2016 to a 0.46 adults 18-49 rating and 1.04 million viewers, ticked down to a 0.35 rating with 658,000 viewers in week 2, and remained relatively stable over the course of the first season: averaging a 0.27 and 588,000. A second season premiered in 2017 averaging a 0.20 rating and 482,000 viewers, and a third season premiered in 2018 averaging a 0.14 rating and 407,000 viewers. It hit a series-low for its third season finale (0.11 rating with 307,000 viewers). A fourth and final season aired in 2019 where it fell to its lowest numbers ever, averaging just 0.11 in the demo & 327,000 viewers.

The Newsroom (HBO): Ratings Recap

HBO's 'The Newsroom' premiered on June 24, 2012 to a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating and 2.14 million viewers, falling to a 0.7 with 1.68 million in week 2 before rebounding to a series-high 2.3 million viewers by the inaugural season finale. The second season premiered in 2013 relatively on par with the first (0.9 and 2.22 million), but ticked down to 1.67 million viewers by its finale. A third season premiered over a year later to a series-low 0.45 18-49 rating and 1.2 million viewers. It ticked up to 1.62 million viewers and a 0.56 rating by the season finale, but was still the lowest-rated season, averaging only a 0.52 rating and 1.34 million viewers. A total of 25 episodes aired over the course of those three seasons.

FX's 'Married' premiered in 2014 to a 0.65 adults 18-49 rating with 1.12 million viewers. It dropped by more than half by episode 3, where it had a 0.23 rating with 538,000 viewers, but stabilized - averaging a 0.36 rating and 675,000 viewers over its 10-episode inaugural season. A second season premiered in 2015 to a 0.26 rating with 658,000 viewers, and concluded to a 0.11 with 267,000 viewers. It wasn't renewed for a third season.

When Calls the Heart (Hallmark): Ratings Recap

UPDATED 2021: Hallmark's 'When Calls the Heart' premiered in 2014 with a 0.23 adults 18-49 rating and 1.69 million viewers, and the first season finished on a high note with 2.07 million viewers, averaging 1.7 million viewers in the process. A second season aired in 2015, down slightly from the first season with a 0.13 rating & 1.67 million viewers on average, but the third season (2016) rose to its best numbers yet with a 0.24 & 1.95 million. The next several seasons all stayed around that 18-49 figure but jumped to around 2.2 million viewers and up even further to 2.3 million for the seventh season in 2020. The most recent eighth season aired in 2021, averaging a 0.19 rating and a series-best 2.41 million viewers.
