Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
NEW: Numbers for select albums below the Billboard Top 10 are now included in the chart rather than in the text.
Lil Baby & Lil Durk's new album 'The Voice of Heroes' debuted atop the Billboard 200 in the tracking week ending June 10th with 150,000 units - the majority of which were SEA units (144,000). This was the sixth-best debut of 2021 and the best since Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' logged 295,000 in the tracking week ending May 27th. That album held the second spot this week with a still-stellar 143,000 units, propped up mostly by SEA units as pure albums accounted for only 13,000 of that total. With that, Morgan Wallen's Dangerous: The Double Album' rose 4-3 this week despite shedding a couple thousand units (50,000) and J. Cole's 'The Off-Season' dipped 3-4 with 44,000 units (vs. 58,000 last week). Elsewhere, Tomorrow X Together debuted their new album 'The Chaos Chapter: Freeze' with 43,000 units with the majority coming from album sales (39,000) and Moneybagg Yo's 'A Gansta's Pain' shed a few thousand units (to 38,000) and went 5-6 in the rankings this week. Finally, Taylor Swift's 'Evermore' plummeted 1-8 (31,000) after last week's huge numbers.
