Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
It was a big week for album releases with five Billboard top 10 debuts in the tracking week ending June 17th. Polo G's 'Hall of Fame' debuted atop the chart with 143,000 album-equivalent units - the seventh-largest opening frame of the year - with the majority coming from SEA units which accounted for 124,000. Just behind, Migos debuted 'Culture III' with 130,500 units (106,000 SEA) to score the second spot of the week while KPOP group TWICE launched 'Taste of Love' with 46,000 units to take the sixth position. Of that total, 43,000 were pure albums which led the week in that metric. The next two spots were also new to the chart as both Bo Burnham's 'Inside (The Songs)' and Maroon 5's 'Jordi' each debuted with a rounded 37,000 units. The former saw more success in streaming (33,000 SEA units vs. 20,000) while the latter performed better in album sales (15,000 vs. 3,000). Elsewhere, Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' remained solid in its fourth week with 122,000 units but dipped 2-3 in the rankings, Lil Baby & Lil Durk's 'The Voice of Heroes' dropped 1-4 with 73,000 units, and Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' went 3-5 despite logging the same number of units as the previous week (50,000). Closing out the top 10 was Moneybagg Yo's 'A Gangsta's Pain' and J. Cole's 'The Off-Season' which each had a rounded 34,000 units.
