Below is a breakdown of the top albums in the week ending November 25, 2021. Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard charts based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to Billboard (and usually a small select number albums below the top 10). The second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
Adele's new album '30' scored a monstrous debut on the album sales & streaming chart with about 839,000 album-equivalent units sold in the tracking week ending November 25th. This was easily the biggest single-week sales total of the year and the biggest of any album since Taylor Swift's 'Folklore' back in 2020 (846,000). Of its total, pure albums accounted for 692,000 and streaming was about 141,000. With that, Taylor Swift's 'Red (Taylor's Version)' went down to #2 with an additional 159,000 units, and Silk Sonic's 'An Evening with Silk Sonic' dipped 2-4 with 53,000. Drake's 'Certified Lover Boy' was up 3-5 this week and Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' rose 6-5 with a slight increase in units week-to-week. The only other debut in the top 10 this week was Plant & Krauss's 'Raise the Roof' at #7 with 40,000, which launched just behind Summer Walker's 'Still Over It' at #6. Rounding out the top 10 was Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' (up 11-8), Michael Buble's 'Christmas', and The Weeknd's 'The Highlights.'
