Fear the Walking Dead (AMC): Ratings Recap

UPDATED 2020: AMC's 'Fear the Walking Dead' premiered in 2015 to a 4.93 adults 18-49 rating with 10.13 million viewers, breaking the record for the highest-rated and most-viewed premiere for a cable series ever. The first 6-episode season concluded to a 3.37 rating with 6.86 million viewers and averaged a 3.8 rating with 7.61 million viewers. A second season premiered in 2016 and was unable to hold the monster ratings from the first season, averaging a 1.83 rating with 4.19 million viewers. The decline continued into the third season (2017) where the show lost a full demo point (down to 0.89 on average) and ~1.8 million viewers (to 2.39 million). Interestingly, the decline between the third and fourth season (2018) was minimal, down only a tenth in the demo and less than 150K viewers year-to-year. Stability didn't last though as the fifth season, in 2019, tumbled hard, down nearly four tenths in the demo (to 0.42) and ~700K viewers (to 1.51 million). Despite this, it is still one of cable's best performing programs and was renewed for a sixth season.
