Cable Network Ratings: 9/25 - 10/1/2017

Recap of the top basic cable networks in primetime for the week ending October 1, 2017

ESPN led the cable networks in primetime this week, averaging over 3.14 million viewers in primetime. The only other networks that averaged over 1 million viewers were: Fox News (2.29 million), MSNBC (1.68 million), USA Network (1.36 million), HGTV (1.16 million), and TBS (1.11 million). CNN was just behind at 970,000 viewers. WGN America, which is no longer airing scripted originals, was at #44 for the week, with 299,000 viewers. With help from 'American Horror Story: Cult' FX averaged 752,000 in primetime for the week. FXX averaged 311,000. 

Among AMC's assets, its namesake channel aired originals 'Fear the Walking Dead' and 'Halt & Catch Fire' which put the network at #22 for the week, with an average of 530,000 viewers. It's other channels include: WEtv (364,000), SundanceTV (207,000), BBC America (160,000), and IFC (173,000).

Among Viacom's assets, TV Land (#19, 617,000), performed the highest for the week, followed by: Comedy Central (#30, 448,000), VH1 (#32, 420,000), MTV (#34, 405,000), Spike (#35, 399,000), BET (#45, 298,000), CMT (#51, 235,000), MTV2 (#78, 109,000), Logo (#88, 66,000), and MTV Classic (#105, 10,000). Among Nickelodeon group channels, Nick Jr. (#20, 585,000) led, followed by Nick-at-Night (#21, 563,000), Nicktoons (#45, 263,000), TeenNick (#71, 131,000). Nickelodeon, which brands itself as such only outside of primetime, averaged 979,000 viewers over the course of the week. 

Other networks of note include: Adult Swim (726,000), Syfy (480,000), Freeform (456,000), GSN (275,000), Velocity (224,000), Oxygen (222,000), Reelz (150,000), RFD-TV (125,000), Smithsonian (80,000), Viceland (75,000), Ovation (73,000), El Rey (46,000), Fuse (45,000), and Chiller (36,000). The lowest rated network for the week was Comedy.TV with an almost invisible 2,000.
