Below is a breakdown of the top albums in the week ending November 4, 2021. Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard charts based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to Billboard (and usually a small select number albums below the top 10). The second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
Ed Sheeran's new album '=' (Equals) debuted atop the album sales & streaming chart, earning 118,000 album-equivalent units in the tracking week ending Nov. 4th. Of this total, pure sales accounted for 68,000 units and streaming was about 46,500 according to Billboard. Though this was easily easily the top album of the week, nearly doubling second-ranked 'Certified Lover Boy' (Drake), it's still a far cry from what Sheeran's previous album 'Divide' pulled in its first week back in 2017 (451,000). Back to this week's chart, Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' dipped 2-3, Doja Cat's 'Planet Her' dropped 3-4, and Megan Thee Stallion's 'Something for Hotties' launched at #5 (39,000). With that, Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' ticked down 5-6 (35,000) and Youngboy Never Broke Again's 'Sincerely, Kentrell' fell 4-7, but Lil Nas X's 'Montero' rose 9-8. Rounding out the top 10 was The Kid Laroi's 'F*CK LOVE' in 9th and Moneybagg Yo's 'A Gangsta's Pain' in 10th.
