TV Ratings: Saturday May 30, 2020

ABC's airing of the ESPN documentary 'The Last Dance' was the only original program airing broadcast Saturday night, delivering a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating with 1.27 million viewers.

Coverage of the Space Shuttle Launch dominated the Saturday cable ratings. Discovery Channel's coverage from 3:22-3:32pm was the top rated telecast of the day in all major demos including adults 18-49 (1.29 rating), adults 18-34 (0.76), adults 25-54 (1.56) and total viewers (4.63 million). The remaining 27-minutes of the 3:00 hour averaged the day's second-best numbers in each of those demos (1.05/0.65/1.24) and found 3.75 million viewers. The 82-minutes leading up to the launch (beginning at 2pm) also scored well in the ratings with 0.52/0.29/0.63 and 2.07 million viewers. 

CNN's 3pm hour notched a 0.68 rating in 18-49s, a 0.9 in 25-54s, and 3.41 million viewers. This was the fifth-best hour of the day for the network after 10pm (1.22 rating in 25-54, 3.87 million), 11pm (1.15, 3.23 million), 12am (1.06, 2.88 million), and 9pm (1.03, 3.32 million) where more coverage of the "Black Lives Matter" protests was headlined. 

Fox News's 3pm hour of 'Cavuto Live' was the network's third-best hour on the day in the 25-54 demo (0.76 rating), but easily the most-viewed (4.49 million). Only the 10pm (0.85, 4.01 million) and 11pm (0.80, 3.48 million) hours saw better demo scores. 

MSNBC's 3pm hour wasn't anything too outstanding, averaging just 1.61 million viewers. 

Science Channel also brought in solid ratings for the launch with 1.29 million viewers from 3:22-3:32pm (0.26 in A18-49) and 1.06 million (0.21 rating) for the next 27-minutes of coverage. In 25-54s, those two telecast were at 0.40/0.32. The 82-minutes of coverage leading up to the launch had 0.13 in 18-49 and 725,000 viewers. 

Other networks carrying the space launch include National Geographic (0.08 in 18-49, 407,000 viewers) and The Weather Channel (0.04, 351,000). Summed together, the launch logged 16.191 million viewers across cable nets.
