Album Ratings: Week Ending December 2, 2021

Below is a breakdown of the top albums in the week ending December 2, 2021. Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard charts based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to Billboard (and usually a small select number albums below the top 10). The second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.

Adele's '30' remained atop the album sales & streaming chart for a second-straight week, logging an additional 288,000 units in the tracking week ending December 2nd. Of this total, pure albums accounted for an astounding 225,000 while streaming was responsible for 61,000. In second, Taylor Swift's 'Red (Taylor's Version)' delivered a very solid third week with another 102,000 units, and Michael Buble's 'Christmas' soared 9-3 with 59,000 units. Also seeing a nice rise this week was Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' which went 8-4 with 48,000 - helped immensely by a solid 21,000 in pure album sales. Drake's 'Certified Lover Boy' was down 3-5 in the rankings, Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' dipped 5-6, and Summer Walker's 'Still Over It' went 6-7. Closing out the top 10 was Silk Sonic's 'An Evening with Silk Sonic' at #8, The Weeknd's 'The Highlights' at #9, and Vince Guaraldi's 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' at #10. Of note outside the top 10, Billie Eilish's 'Happier Than Ever' rose to 35,500 units, from 28,800 last week.
