Below is a breakdown of the top albums in the week ending November 18, 2021. Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard charts based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to Billboard (and usually a small select number albums below the top 10). The second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
The week ending Nov. 18th turned out to be a very busy week for album releases as 4 different albums debuted in the top 10 on the album sales chart. Taylor Swift's 'Red (Taylor's Version)' absolutely dominated the chart; collecting 605,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, and scoring Swift her 10th #1 album. Of the 605K total, streaming accounted for 221,000, and album sales totaled 369,000 - the best week of the year in that metric. In the second spot this week was the debut of 'An Evening With Silk Sonic,' a new set by Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak. 'Evening' began with 104,000 units last week: 42,000 in sales & 60,000 in streaming.
