Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
Pop Smoke's second posthumous album 'Faith' debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart with approximately 88,000 album-equivalent units in the tracking week ending July 22nd. Of this, streaming accounted for nearly all of it (83,000 SEA units) with only 4,000 coming from pure album sales. The success of 'Faith' increased interest in his other album 'Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon' which returned to the top 10 this week with 28,000 units. Second on the week was John Mayer's 'Sob Rock' which launched with a solid 84,000 units, leading the week in pure albums (61,000). The next three entries all fell two spots in the rankings due to the new debuts atop the chart. Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' dipped 1-3 77,000 units, Doja Cat's 'Planet Her' went 2-4 with 59,000, and Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' fell 3-5 despite being steady with 44,000. Rounding out the top 10 was Lil Baby & Lil Durk's 'The Voice of Heroes' (36,000), Polo G's 'Hall of Fame' (33,000), Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia' (29,000), and Bo Burnham's 'Inside (The Songs)' (25,000).
