Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
DJ Khaled's new album 'Khaled Khaled' debuted atop the album sales chart with 94,000 album-equivalent units in the tracking week ending May 6. Of that total, 15,000 were pure albums and 76,000 were SEA units. The week's other big debut came from Thomas Rhett's 'Country Again (Side A)' which scored 30,000 units to rank 10th on the week (14,000 pure & 15,000 SEA). Some debuts below the top 10 include Girl In Red's 'If I Could Make it Go Quiet' which logged 12,000 and ITZY's 'GUESS WHO' which had 8,000. Back in the top 10, Moneybagg Yo's 'A Gangsta's Pain' dipped to second this week (70,000) after last week's opening at number one, Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' remains in the third spot with continuing stability (53,000 units this week vs. 54K last week), and Justin Bieber's 'Justice' rises 5-4 with 42,000. The rest of the list is also similar to last week: Young Stoner Life's 'Slime Language' dropped 2-5 with 40,000 and The Weeknd's 'After Hours' was down 7-9, but Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia' rose 8-7 and Pop Smoke's 'Shoot for the Stars .. Aim for the Moon' ticked up 10-8. Of note below the top 10 is Taylor Swift's 'Fearless (Taylor's Version)' (24,200), The Kid Laroi's 'F*CK LOVE' (23,700), Ariana Grande's 'Positions' (23,100), and Harry Styles's 'Fine Line' (18,200).
