Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
Moneybagg Yo's 'A Gangsta's Pain' returned to the summit of the album sales chart, scoring 61,000 album-equivalent units in the tracking week ending May 13th. The vast majority of those units (60K) were SEA units, leading the week in that metric, while Weezer's 'Van Weezer' led the week in pure album sales with 23,000. Last week's chart leader 'Khaled Khaled' dropped the third spot with 46,000 units (down from 94K) and Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' rose 3-2 with 52,000 units (nearly even with last week's 53K). Also holding with last week was Justin Bieber's 'Justice' in fourth (38,000), Rod Wave's 'SoulFly' in sixth (32,000), and The Weekend's 'After Hours' in ninth (29,000). Also in the top 10, Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia' rose 7-5 with 36,000 and Pop Smoke's 'Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon' dipped 7-8 (31,000). Of note below the top 10 was Ariana Grande's 'Positions' (21,300), Taylor Swift's 'Fearless (Taylor's Version)' (20,500), and Harry Styles's 'Fine Line' (19,000).
