Album Ratings: Week Ending April 8, 2021

Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.

Justin Bieber's 'Justice' returned to the summit of the album sales chart in the tracking week ending April 8, 2021. The set logged 75,000 units in the week, bringing its total to 328,000 in the U.S. since its release. Just behind, Demi Lovato debuted her new album 'Dancing with the Devil ... The Art of Starting Over' with 74,000 units of which a chart-leading 38,000 were pure album sales. With this, Rod Wave's 'Soulfly' was pushed down to the third position with 67,000 units, down about half from the prior week's 130,000 debut. Also of note, Lil TJay debuted his new album 'Destined 2 Win' with 62,000 units with the bulk coming from strong performance on streaming (58,000 SEA units). Of note outside the Billboard Top 10 was: Pooh Shiesty's 'Shiesty Season' (27,200), Lil Durk's 'The Voice' (24,600), Ariana Grande's 'Positions' (22,600), Harry Styles's 'Fine Line' (21,800), Megan Thee Stallion's 'Good News' (21,600), Doja Cat's 'Hot Pink' (18,700), and Taylor Swift's 'Folklore' (18,100) & 'Evermore' (17,900).
