Albums achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on total units sold; a metric which is the sum of of pure album sales (sales of the entire actual album), streaming-equivalent album units (SEA), and track-equivalent album units (TEA). One SEA unit is equal to 1,250 premium (paid) streams, or 3,750 free streams, and one TEA unit is equal to 10 purchased tracks. There are three charts below: the first one has the top 10 albums based on total weekly units sold according to both Billboard and Rolling Stone. The two sites have different sources of data, hence why their numbers are different (but close). A second chart includes the top 10 albums of the week according to Billboard based on pure album sales, and the third chart includes the top 25 albums of the week, according to Alpha Data, with breakdowns of pure albums, SEA units, and TEA units.
Rod Wave's new album 'Soulfly' had the third-largest album debut of the year, logging 130,000 album-equivalent units in the tracking week ending April 1st. Of that total, the vast majority of that total were SEA units which accounted for 126,000 units. This pushed Justin Bieber's 'Justice' down to second place with 100,000 units, down about a third from last week's 154,000 unit debut. The next 2 spots on the chart were also debuts with NF's 'Clouds (The Mixtape)' ranking third (86,000), and Carrie Underwood's new set 'My Savior' in fourth (73,000). Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous: The Double Album' fell to its lowest weekly total, scoring 63,000 units - enough for fifth on the week while Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia' fell 5-9 with 35,500.
Other albums of note below the Billboard Top 10 include: Lil Durk's 'The Voice' (25,300), Ariana Grande's 'Positions' (24,600), Megan Thee Stallion's 'Good News' (22,200), 24KGolden's 'El Dorado' (21,700), Harry Styles's 'Fine Line' (20,700), Taylor Swift's 'Folklore' (20,300) & 'Evermore' (19,400), Doja Cat's 'Hot Pink' (19,800), Lana Del Rey's 'Chemtrails Over the Country Club' (15,300), and BTS's 'BE' (14,200).
