Song Ratings: Week Ending February 18, 2021

Music ratings are divided into two weekly posts: one for albums, and one for individual songs; this is the song post. Songs achieve their positions on the weekly Billboard & Rolling Stone lists based on three major metrics: sales, streaming, and airplay. Below are three charts: the top 25 songs of the week based on total U.S. sales, the top 25 based on total U.S. streaming and the top 40 songs of the week based on U.S. pop radio airplay.

Taylor Swift's new re-recorded version of 'Love Story' easily topped the song sales chart in the tracking week ending February 18th. The song logged over 24,800 downloads with ~18,900 of them coming in just the first day (Feb. 12) and 2,100 the following day. BTS did well as 'Dynamite' ranked second with ~16,400 downloads, and Ariana Grande's '34+35' soared to the third position (~15,900) due to the Feb. 12 release of its remix. Elsewhere, Cardi B's 'Up' fell to fifth with ~10,800 and Olivia Rodrigo's 'Driver's License' fell below 10K for the first time (~9,600). Of note below the chart was Pop Smoke's 'What You Know About Love' (1,811), Doja Cat's 'Streets' (1,662), SZA's 'Good Days' (1,387), and Ariana Grande's 'Positions' (1,290). Note: this list only includes songs that had over $32.7K revenue for the week; a song with less than $32.7K in revenue could theoretically have more sales than the 25th ranked song on this list and it would not appear here.

Cardi B's 'Up' also dropped one position, to third, with around 16.9 million streams, and The Weeknd rounded out the top 5 with 'Save Your Tears' (~14 million) and 'Blinding Lights' (13.2 million). Ariana Grande's '34+35' was up slightly to 11.99 million streams (vs. 11.15 million) this week and barely edged out Taylor Swift's re-release of 'Love Story' which clocked in at 11.78 million. Ariana Grande has now spent 10 consecutive weeks atop the pop radio chart as single '34+35' ranked atop the chart for the third consecutive week. With a total of 15,834 plays, the song was the uncontested winner of the week, beating second-ranked 'Drivers License' from Olivia Rodrigo, by over 1200 plays; however, that figure is only up 44 plays from last week while 'License' was up over 1500 plays, so there's a distinct possibility Rodrigo could take the title on next week's chart. Grande's other single, 'Positions' dropped to fourth this week (14,090) while Chris Brown's 'Go Crazy' rose to take third (14,254) though the former had more audience impressions (45.3 million vs. 42.1 million). Dua Lipa's 'We're Good' had the week's most increased plays, up nearly 2700 plays from last week (to 3,975) to rank 20th on the week. Other top gainers were the aforementioned 'Drivers License,' Ritt Momney's 'Put Your Records On' (up 1410), and Ava Max's 'My Head and My Heart' (up 1185). Of note outside the top 25 was Ed Sheeran's 'Afterglow' (1,652 plays/3.301 million audience), Sabrina Carpenter's 'Skin' (1,507/1.946m), Cardi B's 'Up' (758/1.255m), and SZA's 'Good Days' (666/872,000).
