TV Ratings: Saturday August 29, 2020

There wasn't much happening on the broadcast nets Saturday and NBC's evening coverage of 'NASCAR Cup Series Racing' easily beating out all primetime competition in adults 18-49 (0.6/5), adults 18-34 (0.3/4), adults 25-54 (1.0/6), and total viewers (3.869 million). Looking at the full day, ABC's 'World News Tonight' had the win among viewers (6 million) due to its usual sizable 50+ crowd (13 share). Over at CBS, the premiere of 'Love Island: More to Love' completely bombed, mustering just a 0.1 demo rating and not even close to a million viewers (698,000 to be exact) - the lowest-viewed program on all of broadcast. Finally, FOX was new with 'PBC Fight Night' which delivered a slightly-better 0.2 rating with 832,000 viewers (823,000 stuck around for the post game).

On the cable side, 'NBA Playoffs' coverage again dominated the ratings. TNT's Trailblazers/Lakers game easily won out across the demos, scoring the top numbers in adults 18-49 (1.19 rating), men of that demo (1.6), adults 18-34 (1.0), and males 12-34 (1.3). Its 2.9 million viewers even ranked it above Fox News's strong Saturday lineup of 'Greg Gutfeld' (2.8 million), 'Watters World' (2.7 million), and 'Judge Jeanine' (2.8 million). 

The lead-in game, Thunder/Rockets, ranked second in both men 18-49 (1.16) & males 12-34 (0.77) and logged 2.1 million viewers while ESPN's Magic/Bucks game was third (0.77 & 0.54 respectively) and managed 1.2 million. 

Over at NBC Sports Net, two 'NHL Playoff' games each had decent audiences though Flyers/Islanders edged out Golden Knights/Canucks in M18-49 (0.36 vs. 0.30) and total viewers (848,000 vs. 542,000). They were virtually identical in adults 18-34 (0.18 vs. 0.17). 

Elsewhere, top women 18-49 returns came from HGTV's 'Vacation House Rules' (0.29) & 'Backyard Takeover' (0.27), and Food Network's 'The Kitchen' (0.24), and 'Pioneer Woman' (0.23).

Other programs of note on the day include Disney Channel's 'Owl House' (375,000), 'Big City Greens' (314,000) & 'Amphibia' (293,000), OWN's 'Girlfriends Check-in' (237,000), and Reelz's 'Autopsy' (171,000).

I haven't seen any data for how the fifth episode of Ovation's 'The Code' did yet, but will update if I do.
