Friday May 1, 2020 TV Ratings Recap

ABC's 'Shark Tank' led the Friday night 8pm hour with a 0.8 rating/5 share among adults 18-49 (about 993,000 in that demo) and 4.8 million viewers. CBS took second with 'MacGyver' (0.6/4 with 5.9 million), followed by NBC with 'The Blacklist' (0.5/3, 4.5 million), and FOX with 'WWE Smackdown' (0.5/3, 1.9 million). Though 'Blacklist' and 'Smackdown' technically tie in the rounded ratings, the former edged out the latter in 18-49 viewers (671K to 639K). CW's 'Charmed' (0.2/1, 581,000) took the bottom spot, though it did have the night's youngest audience at 53.7 years. 

In the 9pm hour, CBS's 'Magnum PI' (0.7/4, 7.2 million) took the top spot, just edging out NBC's 2-hour 'Dateline' (0.7/4, 4.6 million) in 18-49 viewership (930K to 874K). 'PI' also averaged a much older audience, pulling an 11 share in adults 50+ compared to 'Dateline's' 7 share, with an average audience age of 67 (to 61.7).  Also airing was 'Dynasty' which was a speck with just 98,000 18-49 viewers (0.1/0) and 323,000 overall. The program had a 0 share in all major subdemos. 

Finally, at 10pm, the oldest-skewing show on television, 'Blue Bloods' (0.7/4, 8.5 million), was uncontested. It notched 14 share in people over 50 and had an average audience age of almost 70 (69.7). Despite this, it still pulled in a respectable rating in adults 18-34 (0.4) tying its 'PI' lead-in. 

On the cable side, 'Live PD' on A&E notched the day's best ratings in adults 18-49 (0.48), women 18-49 (0.52), men 18-49 (0.43), and adults 25-54 (0.66). It was second in females 12-34 (0.28) and averaged 1.85 million viewers overall. 'Live PD: Wanted' was at 0.37/0.42/0.33/0.51/0.19 in those demos with 1.3 million viewers. 

Over on VH1, 'RuPaul's Drag Race' scored the day's best numbers in people 18-34 (0.36), females 12-34 (0.30) and males 12-34 (0.31) with 701,000 viewers. 'RuPaul's Secret Celebrity' was at 0.25/0.2/0.22 in those demos with 551,000 viewers. Closing out the night was 'Untucked' which managed just 304,000. 

On Bravo, 'Shahs of Sunset' found its best numbers with women 18-49 (0.35 rating) and females 12-34 (0.2) and had 912,000 viewers. WEtv's 'Mama June: Hot or Not' was virtually identical at 0.35/0.19 in those demos with 962,000 viewers. 

Other programs of note include HBO's 'Real Time' (1.2 million) & 'Betty' (158,000).
