The Affair (Showtime): Ratings Recap

Showtime's 'The Affair' premiered October 12, 2014 to a 0.14 rating with 507,000 viewers. The first season saw incredible growth as it went on, concluding to a 0.25 rating with 951,000 viewers, and averaging a 0.19 and 719,000 viewers over 10 episodes. The second season of the series was by far its most successful, pulling a 0.34 rating with over 1.11 million viewers for its finale, and averaging a 0.24 rating with 846,000 viewers. A third season, which premiered in 2016, halted the pattern of growth, premiering to 0.17 with 599,000 viewers and only averaging a 0.18 rating with 649,000 viewers over the course of the season. In 2018, the fourth season of the series premiered and the nearly 2-year break between seasons didn't help the ratings; the season fell by half in the demo from the previous season, to 0.09, and managed only 517,000 viewers.
